“I May Just Enjoy Retirement” – Jon Jones Hilariously Reveals His Future Plans After Francis Ngannou’s Dominant Wrestling Against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270

Francis after his victory of Stipe at UFC 260

In what was one of the most exciting fights in the history of the UFC, Francis Ngannou retained the UFC Heavyweight Championship as he defeated Ciryl Gane via unanimous decision in the UFC 270 headliner inside Honda Center. Needless to say, former light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones had some words for the main event ahead of hugely anticipated heavyweight debut.

Jon Jones took to Twitter and expressed his excitement about competing in the heavyweight division. However, it wasn’t long before he hilariously sent out a tweet where he once again pondered retirement. The tweet was in the back of an incredible performance from Francis Ngannou, who showed huge improvements in his fight game, and showed just why he might go down as one of the most dominant athletes of all time.

INCREDIBLE.

???? @Francis_Ngannou shows a completely different side of his arsenal tonight. What a talent. #UFC270 pic.twitter.com/l2P8ZqC3e8

Jon’s tweet on retirement could actually be a compliment for Ngannou’s wrestling, which was seen as the only weak spot in his fight game. Considering the power with which he steps inside the Octagon, wrestling the Predator is logically the only way to neutralize his striking. In the past, Stipe Miocic has shown how to beat the heavyweight champion. However, this time around, going against an incredible striker like Ciryl Gane, it was Francis Ngannou who made incredible use of his grappling ability and was able to dominate Ciryl Gane on the ground.

Jon Jones vs Francis Ngannou in 2022?

Francis Ngannou impressed fight fans around the world with his overall improvement in the fight game, and it’s safe to say that Jon Jones’ hilarious tweet is in light of Ngannou’s dominant display of wrestling at UFC 270. He also seemingly mocked Ciryl Gane, as he slammed fans for getting behind a “new guy.” This was in reference to Ciryl Gane’s short UFC career and his quick rise in the ranks.

Francis Ngannou vs Jon Jones can be traced back to the entire saga between UFC President Dana White and Jon Jones. It won’t be wrong to say that it might still be a huge topic of debate among other fighters and the promotion, considering Ngannou and the UFC have not been on the right footing lately. Be that as it may, fans would hope that both the parties reach an agreement and fight fans get to witness arguably the greatest fight in the history of the UFC’s heavyweight division.

If this is the Apex of heavyweight fighting, I’m excited about it. Got some more records to break
