The digital gaming world faced a whirlwind of emotions recently. Valve unleashed Counter-Strike 2 as an unexpected update to its predecessor, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO). However, this surprise wasn’t entirely joyous. Many veteran players quickly realized that several valued features from the original game had vanished.
Initially, Valve’s surprise move seemed to be a stroke of genius. The newly introduced game incorporated innovative gameplay aspects and significantly enhanced graphics. Such attributes should have ideally guaranteed its success, considering the massive popularity of the original CS:GO on the Steam platform.
They basically released no NEW content with the launch.
And I guess to not divide the audience they completely removed CS:GO, so the only game we’re left with is the seemingly rushed CS2.
Very weird how all of the hype for the last few weeks lead up to… basically nothing.

However, the realization dawned soon that CS:GO had been entirely replaced by Counter-Strike 2. And as it had replaced CS:GO it has also removed a lot of factors that actually made its predecessor a successful game. Clearly unprepared for such a drastic change, games flocked to online platforms like Reddit and Twitter, seeking answers and sharing their apprehensions.
List of features lost in Counter Strike 2
Soon after the launch, gamers began to lament the absence of several key elements. The outcry was not without reason. The gaming community is abuzz with concerns as Valve removed numerous features from the new game without any prior notification.
This is really disappointing

Here is a breakdown of the missing elements in Counter-Strike 2:
Game Modes Missing:
Notably among the lost features, entire game modes such as Arms Race, Flying Scoutsman, and Danger Zone disappeared. The omission of these beloved modes, especially Arms Race, sparked a flurry of disappointed comments. Players reminisced about past experiences and expressed hopes for their return.
Map Omissions:
Competitive, Wingman, and workshop maps that were integral to CS:GO’s charm were nowhere to be found. The absence of these key maps made the game feel incomplete to many longtime fans. Such omissions have led many gamers to doubt if this feature would even be added.
Mac Support:
To the dismay of a segment of the player base, Valve opted to drop support for Mac users. This decision rendered the game inaccessible to them, leading to further frustration and disappointment. This decision was made very surprisingly which led to many being caught off guard
Technical Glitches:
Several international players found themselves grappling with numerous technical issues. Delays in weapon switching, jump interruptions, and other in-game lags were frequent complaints. The glitches when thought of in combination with server issues, led to many even commenting that the game is unplayable.
Despite the criticisms, it’s worth noting that not all feedback was negative. Several players lauded the revamped graphics and explored new features such as the responsive smoke grenades. These enthusiasts also shared awe-inspiring gameplay clips, attempting to highlight the game’s merits.
Yet, the overarching sentiment remains one of longing for the old and familiar. As the gaming community waits for Valve’s reply to their complaints, one can’t help but wonder: will these features ever come back to the game? One can only wait to know.
