GGGDarren Jason Watkins Jr., or as the world better knows him IShowSpeed, has been one of the most famous internet personalities of the last few years. Mainly garnering a fanbase due to his wild and crazy reactions and his mispronunciation of European soccer clubs during his pack openings on FIFA, he was initially a streamer on the Twitch platform but has been indefinitely banned since 2021 which made him move to YouTube.
Recently during a Twitch stream, Kai Cenat who is the second most subscribed streamer on the platform and also the recipient of Streamer of the Year awards in 2023 made the bold claim out of nowhere that if “Speed don’t get unbanned I’m leaving. I said it .” Though he quickly followed up by saying “Nah I’m joking, I’m lying.”

This shouldn’t come as a surprise as back in April Cenat was himself banned though temporarily due to showing repeated explicit sexual content on GTA V. But it wasn’t the first ban the American had received. He has received 4 bans before the one he got in April, 2 of them in 2021, one in 2022, and the last one coming in January of this year as he was seen consuming Marijuana edibles live on stream.
After the ban in April Cenat said that if he gets one more ban he will leave Twitch for good, he also talked about the growing competition he has been facing and the stringent rules Twitch expects every streamer to follow. Back in February Cenat risked being banned yet again after calling Speed to ask him about the recent events of his life.
Getting famous on live stream platforms like Twitch is a double-edged sword as yes it brings a lot of fan following but also more scrutiny on the activities of the streamer as they are heavily followed and hence one constantly needs to keep an eye on whether or not they are mistakenly doing something that goes against the guidelines of the platform
Why was IShowSpeed banned from Twitch back in 2021?
IShowSpeed’s activities have always been different than usual whenever he is on stream, He usually speaks without any filter and doesn’t think about the consequences that may follow. Back in December of 2021 Speed was invited to a popular e-dating broadcast by Adin Ross and was introduced to Ashaley “Ash Kash.”, a famous Instagram model.
During the conversation, Speed put forward a question asking that if he and Ash were the last two people on earth would she reproduce with him? After hearing “No” as a response Speed went off the rails and started saying – “If we are the last two people on Earth, who’s going to stop me?! You’re not stopping me! Shortly after Ross interrupted by screaming “No”, Speed also realized his mistake and asked if he could start from the top again.
Two days later he got an email from Twitch saying that he had been banned from the platform on the grounds of “s*xual coercion or intimidation. Speed deeply regrets this incident and he went on to say that he was 16 when happened and it was stupid and immature. Speed went to Twitter and posted a Cryptic message saying “Bye” about the incident.
This ban made Speed move to YouTube for his daily streaming activities. Since his ban back in December 2021, Twitch has yet to revise his ban. But currently, it seems very unlikely that the ban will be lifted especially after the recent “IShowMeat” incident on YouTube.
