MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, has gained quite traction over the last few months. And it has to do with his team’s crew, more so than his YouTube channel. Last month, his long-time close pal, Chris Tyson drew strong backlash for his controversial HRT announcement. Another such crew member who has often come under scrutiny is Karl Jacobs.
The 24-year-old has proven to be a vital member of the MrBeast crew, frequenting his videos from time to time. Moreover, he shares an equal amount of passion for Minecraft and streams himself playing the popular game on his own YouTube channel.

Even though Jacobs hasn’t been making solo content for very long, he has amassed quite a huge fanbase while doing his Minecraft streams. Formerly known as GamerBoyKarl, fans have often seen him collaborating with other members of the survival multiplayer game, such as Clay ‘Dream’ Huff, George ‘GeorgeNotFound’ Davidson, etc.
On one occasion of him playing the popular game, a fellow Twitch streamer, Tubbo, caught him revealing a piece of information not many were aware of. Tubbo, whose real name is Tobias Smith, was recording himself playing a game of Minecraft along with Karl Jacobs and a few others.
During the stream, Jacobs out of nowhere goes, “I’m actually colorblind.” Upon asking whether he really is what he just said, Jacobs responded, “Barely, barely.” Tubbo added, “You’re like GeorgeNotFound but half,” to which Karl retorted with, “Yeah, I have his color blindness but like the most mild form.”
The streaming crew ended it on a note of laughter when Jacobs seemingly made fun of his medical condition by saying, “Are those both gray? Is it gray and gray?” while pointing to two colorful blocks inside the game.
As per nationaltoday, Jacobs has deuteranopia. According to Healthline, A person suffering from deuteranopia is “green-blind,” having green colors appear redder to them. It results from insensitivity to green light.
Karl Jacobs used to be a cameraman for MrBeast
Fans know Karl for joining forces with Jimmy Donaldson in 2020 and he has since been gaining fame through their collaborative videos. He made his very first appearance in MrBro’s ‘Last To Leave Halloween Candy Wins $10,000’ challenge.
Contrary to popular belief, Karl Jacobs earned his first claim to fame by operating as a cameraman for MrBeast’s crew. About 5 weeks before Jacobs was supposed to graduate from college, MrBeast‘s team offered him a job. This made the American streamer drop out of college early and take on the opportunity of a lifetime.
In some of the early MrBeast videos, fans can see Karl simply working as a cameraman in the background. After Jake The Viking’s resignation, MrBeast promoted Jacobs to an on-screen member and has since appeared as a significant member of the team since 2020. Fans speculate that the crew promoted Karl likely due to his close friendship with Chris Tyson.
On September 11 of the same year, Karl created his own standalone YouTube channel. However, he didn’t reveal it to the fans until December 2, 2020, through his Twitter page. From being a cameraman to further earning a spot in Jimmy’s videos, Karl Jacobs has come a long way.
