MrBeast is one of the most popular creators on the planet. From extravagant and meticulous videos to ventures in food and chocolates, the YouTuber seemingly does it all. However, he has recently made headlines once again, but this time because he was arrested.
Recently, social media went into a mini meltdown after pictures and leaked videos of MrBeast’s arrest. In the videos that surfaced, MrBeast aka Jimmy Donaldson is seen getting escorted into a police vehicle. According to initial comments, the Youtuber was allegedly arrested for “tax evasion.”

As it turns out, the matter was nothing but an elaborate prank by another Youtuber, Airrack. Also known as Eric David Decker, posted a small clip claiming to be the one to have gotten Jimmy arrested. Further, it was revealed that Eric did in fact get the most subscribed YouTuber arrested. According to the video Airrack posted thereafter, he worked in cooperation with the authorities in order to emulate an actual arrest.
Thus, MrBeast’s arrest was well-structured and planned in advance by Airrack and Co. Notably, the ‘arrest’ occurred in MrBeast’s hometown, Greenville, South Carolina. Understandably, Airrack was quite pleased with how well his prank had worked. In the full video released afterward, Jimmy appeared to be genuinely worried. However, he seemed aware of the possibility that someone could be pranking him.
Why did Airrack prank MrBeast?
In the complete video by Airrack, he reveals the main reason behind pranking Jimmy. For the most part, Eric and Jimmy have been friends for a long time. Having met via the content creation scene, the two had become good friends with Jimmy also inviting Eric for a get-together. As such, Eric, who had initially planned out his prank to happen in New York, had to improvise.
Working closely with MrBeast’s assistant, Airrack followed Jimmy over to New York City, where the latter was meant to have a meeting with Elon Musk. Unfortunately, as it turned out, Elon canceled on MrBeast, inadvertently foiling Airrack’s plans.
However, as luck would have it, Jimmy ended up inviting Eric to his hometown for a get-together shortly after that. Getting a second chance at carrying out his plan, Eric implemented the same plan but in Greenville instead of New York.
Arguably, the prank worked, and a bit too well. Not only did the prank catch Jimmy off guard, but led the entire world to believe he was actually arrested. At the beginning of the video, “I ACTUALLY Got MrBeast Arrested,” Eric explained why he had decided to prank MrBeast. Previously, the $100 million rich YouTuber reportedly ‘poached’ Airrack’s best friend Tyler and tricked him into working for his channel instead.
Thus, a year on, Airrack exacted his revenge with a prank, likely as a friendly jab at the social media influencer. Recently, MrBeast was in the news owing to the controversy related to his team member Chris Tyson. However, it seems that the situation is at a standstill for now, with no new development on that particular front.
