Apex Legends is kicking off 2024 with multiple firsts of its kind. Particularly, its first-ever collaboration with a game. Apex Legends has collaborated with the upcoming game Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth for a brand new event.
The Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Event kickstarts on January 9, 2024, and will run until January 30, 2024. As Final Fantasy VII Rebirth takes over Apex Legends, the event will bring a new event mode in the game, accompanied by several new, unique features to Apex Legends.
With the event, the game is also introducing a limited-time universal heirloom for the first time ever. Besides, it is also introducing a new line of cosmetics for the death box for the first time in the game’s history.
Apex Legends x Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth event
Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will take over Apex Legends with a new event mode. This will replace the regular Battle Royale format, however, the regular game modes will still be running alongside the LTM. Players can expect the arrival of Cloud’s iconic Buster Sword, which is being offered as a universal heirloom.
It will be available both as a weapon with light and heavy attacks, a blocking feature, as well as a dash move, however, these will only be in the LTM and not in the regular game.
The event introduces a total of 36 cosmetic items to the game. These include Legend and weapon skins, which will be exclusively accessible through the event packs. In addition to this, a new hop-up named Materia will also be introduced in the takeover event mode. These Materia Hop-Ups can improve weapon effects and provide bonuses, having specific impacts for select weapons.
The Materia are as follows:
Blue Materia: Players heal when they damage enemies with that weapon.
Green Materia: An empty weapon reload will release a shock nova that damages and slows enemies similar to an arc star.
Purple Materia: Adds critical hits to weapons with a random chance.
Red Materia: Summons a Nessie companion that attacks enemies
Yellow Materia: Damaged enemies display their remaining HP.
Additionally, the event will also feature limited-time Cactuar Ticks with these Materia Hop-Ups. During the event, players get to earn Gil in the game. Gil is a new event currency being introduced which can be earned by completing challenges and playing the event mode.
Players can then use Gil to unlock several event-limited items available in the Rewards Shop. Notably, the shop’s inventory alternates weekly including badges and select event items. Players can also utilize Gil to earn additional Battle Pass Stars. The event also introduces a One-Winged Angel Death Box, designed after Sephiroth and his iconic lone wing.
How to get the One-Winged Angel Deathbox and the Buster Sword Universal Heirloom?
The process for acquiring both, the One-Winged Angel Deathbox and the Buster Sword Universal Heirloom, is the same. Players must unlock all 36 Event Packs from the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth crossover event in Apex Legends to get the One-Winged Angel Death Box as well as the Buster Sword Universal Heirloom.
These event packs each cost 1000 Apex Coins instead of the usual 700, which has made a lot of fans upset, making this event the most expensive in Apex’s history.
Players can equip both these by heading to the newly introduced Lobby Melee tab in the game. Both these are randomly placed in the 36 packs. Players must note that the rewards in these 36 packs will be randomized, however, no pack will contain a duplicate. Thus players need to open all 36 packs to get the One-Winged Angel Deathbox and the Buster Sword Universal Heirloom.
Maybe they appear in the initial packs or maybe they appear at the very end. Notably, the Buster Sword universal heirloom will not be available in the Apex Legends Mythic shop after the event has ended.
