Aftermarket Parts now allow players to alter the designs of their weapons, but there is a catch. Only weapons having reached the maximum level are eligible for Aftermarket Parts. Several sets of Aftermarket Parts, in the form of weapon conversion kits, will be available in the game upon launch.
With this feature that essentially transforms one weapon into another, Modern Warfare 3 is basically expanding the Gunsmith system. The purpose of Aftermarket Parts and Conversion Kits is to completely alter the operation and the role of a weapon.
Sledgehammer Games provided examples of weapons that operate entirely differently after conversion in their blog post article. For example, It is possible to convert the burst-fire Renetti pistol into a full-auto carbine.

For instance, the Pulemyot LMG can be converted from a belt-fed to a bullpup design. Although it will mainly retain its current appearance, its gameplay will now favor run-and-gun tactics. It will also improve hip-fire accuracy with quicker agility and handling.
Aftermarket Parts will enable enhanced weapon capability. It will also be Gunsmith’s most significant modification to the weaponry that gamers are already accustomed to. Players need to complete in-game challenges to obtain these Conversion Kits. They become accessible whenever a supported weapon achieves its maximum level.
