Forza Motorsport 8 is all set for launch and fans from all over the world are on their toes to get their hands on it. The latest installment of the series is coming with a lot of new stuff, including brand-new cars. The game also brings a lot of new and advanced gameplay features.
The developers have offered four different editions for the players to gain early access to the game. Among them, the Premium edition, priced at $100, gives players a five-day early access. This means while the official game launches on October 10, 2023, the Premium edition holder will get access to the game from October 5, 2023 onward.
Forza Motorsport 8 features around 500 cars, all of which can be used across different game modes, including the weekend special events. The latest sim racing game will feature multiplayer, as well as a single online race having up to 24 players. The fact that the multiplayer feature will help play against your friends is confirmed, but do the friends need to be on the same platform?
A lot of fans had questions if they would be able to play Forza Motorsport with their friends on different platforms, and whether or not the game supports crossplay.
Does Forza Motorsport 8 support crossplay?
The answer is yes. Forza Motorsport 8 will support crossplay, so players need not stress about not being able to play with their friends who use a different platform. Notably, the game will be available only on PC and Xbox Series X/S, thus players on only these two platforms can play with each other.
Unfortunately, since the game is meant to be on next-gen platforms only, it is not supported on the last-gen Xbox One consoles. Similarly, the game is an Xbox exclusive and hence, it’s not available on Sony’s PlayStation consoles.
The addition of crossplay does not come as a surprise since Forza Motorsport 8 is available on only two platforms. Thus, it was obvious for the developers to make it crossplay as this would make things more exciting.
Apart from the crossplay feature, Forza Motorsport 8 also includes cross-progression. This essentially means that if a player is playing the game on PC and wishes to switch to an Xbox Series X/S console, they can do it with ease without having to worry about losing their progress in the game.
All of the players’ PC progress will be saved and carried seamlessly to the console. This cross-progression or cross-save feature is also available only on Xbox and PC, including the Steam version.
The game’s features page read, “With cross-play for online matchmaking and cross-save, you can play with your friends across PC and console and for the first time, continue your racing journey across Xbox Series X|S and Steam with shared progression and achievement unlocks.”
