Apex Legends is a free-to-play battle royale developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Apex Legends takes place in the Outlands. It is a collection of planets situated on the edge of explored space. Notably, it shares the universe with Titanfall. Players are dropped onto an island in teams of three, battling to be the last squad standing.
Respawn Entertainment’s Apex Legends has carved a unique space in the battle royale genre with its character-driven gameplay. It contains innovative mechanics and seasonal updates. The Neon Network event, which kicked off on July 25, introduced the Node Tracker, a new gameplay element that allows players to discover special data nodes scattered across the map, hack them, and gain rewards. This event also brought an array of new skins and cosmetics.
In addition to the Neon Network event, Respawn Entertainment has teased Revenant’s rework in the new Kill Code Part 1 animation. This animated short serves as a teaser for the upcoming revamp of Revenant in Apex Legends Season 18. The rework will significantly change Revenant’s abilities, showcasing his ferocity and proficiency in close-quarters combat.
Revenant’s new abilities after the rework in Apex Legends
Apex Legends has always been a game that distinguishes itself with its focus on teamwork, strategy, and the unique abilities of its characters. The upcoming Season 18 promises to take this further with a major rework of one of the game’s most intriguing characters, Revenant. The synthetic nightmare has been a part of the Apex Legends roster since Season 4. He is known for his menacing appearance and deadly abilities.
According to the latest patch notes and information revealed, the rework will bring significant changes to Revenant’s abilities:
- Passive Ability – Assassin’s Instinct: Revenant’s passive has been reworked. This ability retains his previous kit’s faster crouch speed and wall climb. The wall climb has been improved to provide more horizontal movement. Additionally, Revenant can now see nearby enemies that are low on health. And if he damages them, he’ll mark their position for his team.
- Tactical Ability – Shadow Pounce: This new ability allows him to unleash a powerful leap forward, closing the gap between him and his prey. He can use this ability to reach height on a wall, quickly transition into improved wall climbing, or reposition for a better angle. The ability can be charged to leap even farther.
- Ultimate Ability – Forged Shadows: This creates shadows around him that protect him from direct incoming damage, including melee, bullets, and explosives. However, it doesn’t protect against radius or AOE effects like the ring, fire, or caustic gas.
Certainly, these changes reflect a shift in Revenant’s playstyle, emphasizing aggression, control, and adaptability. Further, the rework aims to make Revenant more viable in various situations. The anticipation for these updates is high, and players are eagerly awaiting the release of Season 18, slated for Tuesday, August 8, 2023.
