Fans of Bethesda’s long standing title, Starfield, finally received the game a month back, and since then are list in exploring the galaxy in Starfield. The game is so interactive that it sometimes may feel like a dream come true amidst the stars.
But what would be the fun if there were no battles every now and then?! Even the most peaceful planets in Starfield get raided by Spacers and other marauders. In these cases, personal weaponry is an intergral part of traveling through outer space.
Starfield has many types of weapons available throughout the Settled Systems. And they have a lot of variety too. However the weapon effects are the game changers. They can turn a normal weapon into something legendary.
Different Types of Weapons in Starfield
It is important to thoroughly go through a weapon’s stats when choosing a weapons. Weapon stats include factors such as damage, range, accuracy, rate of fire, and ammo type. Here are the types of weapons players will find in Starfield.
Melee
Currently, Starfield does not have any unarmed or knuckle weapons, however, there are lots of different kinds of melee weapons. Although Melee weapons primarily deal with just physical damage, a few of them can but modified to cause other types of damage as well. Melee weapons are fairly common in the game, and are lightweight, so its good to have one handy at all times just in case.
Different ranks of the melee weapons provide bonuses that can help increase damage, toughness, movement speed, and even health regen, while other weapon just increase damage and other minor effect.
Ballistic
Ballistic weapons and guns are found virtually anywhere, thus these count as some of the best weapons in Starfield. Ballistic weapons include a wide array of guns, be it pistols, revolvers, shotguns and rifles. All Ballistic weapons deal with physical damage. Likewise increasing ones skill in Ballistic personal weapons to the max can increase the weapon’s damage and effective range.
Magnetic
Magnetic weapons are technically ballistic weapons because of their ability to involve in firing physical projectiles. The only difference is that these use magnetism instead of gunpowder to function. The use of magnetism makes these weapons significantly quiet, though not as quiet as guns with silencers.
Lasers
Lasers are known for their effective build. These are considerably quieter than the average ballistic weapons, however, they are not ideal for stealth because of their bright flashing lights. The Laser skill further increases the damage dealt by laser weapons.
Sometimes they have a 5% chance to set their targets on fire at max level. This can be dangerously effective with automatic energy weapons.
Particle Beams
Finding fire Particle Beams weapons are extremely rare in Starfield. But these should be mindfully used while facing off against highly defensive enemies because they deal both physical and energy damage.
Upgrading Particle Beams skill increases the damage they deal. At a max rank, they offer a bonus of 5% critical chance. It;s safe to say that the Particle Beam skill is a pretty simple one for the most complex weapon type in the game.
Electromagnetic
Just like particle beam, electromagnetic weapons are also pretty uncommon, however they can be found being sold by vendor sometimes. Players can also get them for free during certain missions. Ironically, Electromagnetic weapons do not deal any kind of actual damage, they merely build up energy to the point that the target can fall incapacitated. Since it does not do any damage, there is no skill for personal Electromagnetic weapons.
Apart from weapon types, Starfield also has weapon effects that must be considered when choosing the right weapon according to ones requirements and gameplay needs.
