Nikocado Avocado is a famous YouTuber, born in Kherson, Ukraine. However, he grew up in the United States of America after he was adopted. While he is famous for his mukbang videos, Avocado wanted to be a musician at the beginning. He even worked as a freelance violinist between 2011-2012 and had dreams of being an orchestra musician on Broadway. However, Nikocado gave up on his dreams as he found it difficult to handle the expectations.
He created the channel on May 27, 2014, and it has already gained over 734 million views. Some may ask what does mukbang mean? Mukbang means a live-video stream where someone tries out a large quantity of food while interacting with the audience. One can imagine, eating such a large quantity of food at once, can not be good for one’s health. Due to his lifestyle, Nikocado weighed about 400 lbs.
However, it looks like there is an attempt from Nikocado to turn his life around. It has recently been reported that Nikocado Avocado has lost around 90 lbs and is on a strict diet to lose more weight. It is certainly a step toward a positive direction as he has not been the healthiest person over the years. According to a report from Dramareport, he was hospitalized and was asked to stop eating in 2022.
Nikocado Avocado wants to stop making mukbang videos
Following his impressive physical transformation, there is a lot of interest in knowing if Nikocado Avocado is going to keep making his mukbang content or not. Apparently, he used to eat a disproportionate amount of food to garner the attention that he sorely missed during his upbringing. In an interview with Insider, Avocado aka Nicholas Perry revealed that he was diagnosed with OCD and ADD at an early age.
As a result, he was been on prescribed anti-depressants since the age of 7. Hence, mukbang videos were his way of gaining a lot of subscribers and he could also be seen posting videos where he was in tears, claiming that nobody loved him. While it is unknown who his adoptive parents are, Nicholas Perry is currently married to Orlin Home.
But, how did he think of the idea of making such videos? In an interview with Tampa Bay Times, he added, “One of my friends told me to try it out… I thought she was crazy. I said to myself, ‘Who on Earth is going to watch me eat food? Sure enough, my very first mukbang got like 50,000 views in a couple of weeks, which was a lot for me at the time, and everybody was asking, when’s the next mukbang?”
Speaking about his future in the genre, Perry said, “I just want to do this for a couple more years… It IS very unhealthy.”
