Toto Wolff is one of the best Team Principals the sport has ever seen. He was one of the key factors behind the success of the Mercedes team in the 2010s. The secrets to Mercedes’ success will finally be spilled by Toto Wolff himself in the new course at Harvard Business School.
Toto Wolff himself is a college dropout who calls himself an “Academic Loser”. However, he was able to build himself to a Billionaire status which he received earlier this year.
The Harvard Business School started a study on his success in Mercedes in early 2022. Toto Wolff even paid the college a visit in March 2022 to visit the students and to give his input. The professor who was in charge of the study, Professor Elberse said:
“It’s really difficult to find a team that has won what is effectively a world championship eight times in a row. Usually, complacency sets in, or some other factor makes it impossible for the team to perform at the highest level. We tend to see very short life cycles for teams, but Wolff has kept his team at the top for eight years now. I find that really fascinating,”
Toto Wolff has been invited back to the campus but in a different role.
Toto Wolff to teach a new course at Harvard Business School
Harvard Business School has started a new course called “Mercedes F1: Leading a High-Performance Team”. The course will be focused on how Toto Wolff managed a team to win 8 Championships in a row.
Toto Wolff is officially the Executive Fellow and will also serve as a guest lecturer. When asked about this, Toto Wolff said: “I feel very honored and privileged to continue working with the incredibly bright young minds at Harvard. Whenever I step on campus, I am inspired by the students’ curiosity and ambition, and I leave energized by the special learning environment they create together with the brilliant faculty.”
One of the course’s co-lecturers, Professor Anita Elberse, said: “We very much look forward to welcoming Toto back to campus. I have seen first-hand how much our students benefit from learning about Toto’s leadership journey and from his deep knowledge of what it takes to run a highly successful sports team.”
With this new role, he will be balancing his time between his work at Mercedes and will be able to come to Harvard School every now and then for lectures.
Toto Wolff will now be teaching at Harvard.

The Mercedes team has a successful history in Formula 1 thanks to Toto Wolff. The team is currently in a rough stage right now with performance issues after the 2022 rule changes. The team is doing everything they can to get back to winning championships. Mercedes left the 2021 season incomplete as they were not able to help Hamilton win a Championship.
The Mercedes team will now be focusing to provide Lewis Hamilton with a car that can put an end to Red Bull’s dominance and win the Championship.
