Fernando Alonso is one of the best drivers on the grid right now despite his age. He won 2 World Championships in 2005 and 2006. What was unique in this was that he accomplished this when Ferrari and Schumacher were at the height of their Success having won 5 consecutive championships from 2000 to 2004.
The Spaniard started his F1 career with Minardi in 2000 as a reserve driver. In 2001, he was promoted to the race team for Minardi. He then moved on to Renault (now known as Alpine) as their test driver for 2002. In 2003, he was promoted to the race team to drive one of their cars.

Alonso achieved his first pole position during the 2003 Malaysian Grand Prix, in doing so, he broke the record for the youngest driver to achieve a Formula One pole position. He also broke the record for the youngest driver to win a race in Formula One during the same year during the Hungarian Grand Prix in Budapest.

Alonso has had a lot of ups and downs after his World Championships with Renault. He retired from the sport after the 2018 season but returned during the 2021 season with Alpine (previously Renault). He left Alpine after the 2022 season and has now signed a multi-year contract with Aston Martin.
Alonso has scored 3 podiums in the first 3 races of the 2023 season, which is Aston Martin’s best start to a season so far. Fernando is popular for his unique driving style and high IQ.

Back then, Sainz was the only successful driver in motorsport from Spain. Today Alonso competes against Carlos Sainz Jr, who is the son of Carlos Sainz Sr.
Alonso married Raquel del Rosario, a Spanish singer, on November 2006. The two split up on December 2011. They do not have any children.
Alonso’s father, Jose Luis, was a mechanic in a factory of explosives. He loved karting, so he built a kart for Fernando Alonso’s elder sister, Lorena. The kart went to Alonso after Lorena showed no interest in the sport. Fernando Alonso did not finish his schooling. He dropped out to focus on his dream of racing in Formula 1.
