SUMMARY
- Formula 1 driver lineups will remain the same for the 2024 season.
- Red Bull, Mercedes, McLaren, and Ferrari have stron driver lineups that could make the Championship fight interesting.
It has been almost 2 months since the curtains fell on the 2023 F1 season. This gives us just a month before the 2024 season starts. There are a lot of possibilities going into the 2024 season.
Although Red Bull did dominate the 2023 season, a new season will give teams a fresh start to rework their car and try to challenge for the Championship. But in order to challenge for the Championship, the teams will need a solid lineup of drivers and team principals. Let’s take a look at who the drivers and team principal are going into the 2024 season.
What are the driver lineups for the 2024 F1 season?
For the 2024 season, the driver lineups for all the teams remain the same as the 2023 season. This makes a little sense as there were no drivers who performed very badly in 2023. Logan Sargeant was the only driver who was in doubt for the longest. However, after the 2023 season ended, Williams confirmed the American driver in their lineup for the 2024 season.
There are a few teams that could have the strongest lineup for the upcoming season. Red Bull is definitely one of these teams. Sergio Perez is a well-experienced driver who has more than proved himself in the sport. He has won multiple races for Red Bull and has even won a race with Racing Point in 2020.
In the other Red Bull is a driver that speaks for himself. Max Verstappen has shown his critics that he is a driver that cannot be stopped at the moment. In 2023, he broke several records making him one of the most successful drivers in F1 history. The season also marked his 3rd consecutive Championship.

Ferrari also has a very strong driver lineup. Charles Leclerc joined the team in 2019 and has been promising so far. Carlos Sainz joined the team in 2021 and has proven himself in the Ferrari in these last 3 years and has shown that he is more consistent than most of the other drivers on the grid.
The strength of McLaren’s driver lineup was in doubt when the 2023 season started. However, Oscar Piastri proved to be one of the best rookies to come to Formula 1 in over a decade. The last rookie who was as successful as Piastri was Lewis Hamilton. Lando Norris has also proven himself with the team since joining it in 2019.
Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are also quite a strong lineup for Mercedes. While there is no need to explain what Lewis Hamilton has done in his career, George Russell has been able to match Hamilton’s pace at times in these last 2 years. So they could also be a competitive team for the 2024 season.
Who are F1’s team principals for the 2024 season?
While there have been no changes in the driver lineup for the 2024 season, there has been one major change when it comes to team principals. This change has taken the F1 world by shock.
Guenther Steiner has been the team principal for Haas since the 2014 season. He even convinced Gene Haas to start a team in F1. Given these facts, it was always assumed that Steiner would remain with the team for a long time. However, in a shock announcement, it was revealed that Guenther would be leaving the team for the 2024 season. Ayao Komatsu will be taking his place as team principal of Haas for the 2024 season.

Apart from this change, the rest of the pack has the same drivers and team principals for the 2024 season. However, we could see a lot of changes happening for the 2025 season. Most of the drivers on the grid will be out of contract after the 2024 season. This will make a very interesting silly season which could start as soon as midway through the 2024 season.
It will be interesting to see which drivers land up where after the 2024 season. While most of the top teams do look happy with their current lineups, we could see some changes in Alpine, Aston Martin, Williams, Haas, Alfa Romeo, and maybe even Red Bull.
