Charles Leclerc and fellow Formula 1 drivers will now head into the Monaco Grand Prix this weekend. But before that, Charles and some of his Formula 1 friends will be facing off against Novak Djokovic and others at a charity game in Monaco.

Every year, the “World Stars Football Match” attracts athletes from all over the world and from various sports to come together and participate in the game of soccer. All the proceeds from the event will go towards helping underprivileged children in the region.

Skills on and off track? 🧐

Formula 1 drivers are often seen playing with a soccer ball in the Formula 1 paddock. Juggling a soccer ball is often considered an exercise to increase concentration and reflexes.

The game is scheduled to take place on 23rd May 2023. The teams are usually mixed with Formula 1 drivers, Moto GP riders, Tennis players, and retired soccer players. Last year the score was tied at 3-3, with Carlos Sainz scoring 2 goals.

What other drivers will be playing alongside Charles Leclerc?

This year’s charity game will consist of drivers and players from various sports. One team will be filled with athletes from motorsport while the AS Stars team will consist of retired athletes from soccer and other sports as well.

In the Motorsport team, we will see Fernando Alonso, Charles Leclerc, Pierre Gasly, and Carlos Sainz. Apart from the current Formula 1 drivers, we will also see Former Formula 1 drivers take part. Ivan Capelli and Giancarlo Fisichella are expected to take part in the event. Moto GP Champion, Pecco Bagnaia will also be participating with the drivers.

The AS Star Team will consist of Jérémy Ménez, Claude Puel, Flavio Roma, and Jérôme Rothen, all of whom have played for the AS Monaco soccer team. The team will also consist of Novak Djokovic the Tennis champion, and Lisa Caussin Battaglis, the Jet Ski athlete.

The Formula 1 drivers that will be participating are all close friends with each other. The group participated in the game last year as well. After the charity game, the drivers will start their preparation for the Monaco Grand Prix. The Grand Prix was supposed to be the second race of the first triple-header of the season. But the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix was canceled last week.

This will be the first Grand Prix to take place in Europe this season. Mercedes are expected to bring a major upgrade this race. They are hoping the upgrade is the right step to a better car to challenge the dominating Red Bulls.

Let us now wait and see how the Monaco Grand Prix plays out. There is a little rain expected on Sunday afternoon, but nothing concerning for the race officials.
