Lewis Hamilton has been an advocate for multiple different causes throughout his career. He has also used his platform to encourage and promote it to his followers as an ally. He has previously opened up about adopting a greener lifestyle and has also promoted LGBTQ+ communities online. The Champion along with Sebastian Vettel has also raised awareness of racism and stood in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement.
Vettel and Hamilton have shared these same beliefs for a while. And one of them is also promoting women in the sport. Hamilton has been seen posting the involvement of women in the sport quite a lot of times. The Mercedes star also runs his own foundation called Mission 44 which has taken promoting women and students of color in the studies of STEM seriously.

With his foundation, he has the mission to achieve more solidarity and inclusivity in the youth of our generation. Being open about his opinions on gender and racial inclusivity has also led him to point a finger at the lack of women in motorsport. In this day and age, a lot of women can be seen working in the backgrounds of the sport, however, none have been mentioned as an F1 driver or a FIA member.
Lewis Hamilton asks FIA to end stigma towards women in motorsports
In this matter, Lewis Hamilton made comments about there being a lack of women in the FIA boardroom or in a racing car on the track. Therefore, Hamilton has asked to end the stigma of women “not belonging” in motorsports. Previously, multiple women from the sport like the official content creator, Lissie Mackintosh, also commented on how “The sport would not run without women.”
Hamilton had recently also made a statement saying, “It doesn’t surprise me. It is only men in that room and it has been since I’ve been here,”
To this, a spokesperson of FIA has recently stated to RacingNews365, “The FIA statutes are prefaced by a statement that terms referring to any person are applicable to both genders, and this topic is currently under internal review,”
Formula 1 has not seen a female driver committing to a session since Suzie Wolff at Williams in 2014. However, Formula 1 has now taken the statements into consideration and is reviewing the matter. However, F1 has promoted an all-female racing championship, F1 Academy. But with the lack of women in authority if FIA and chances of being an F1 driver haven’t changed yet.
Hamilton, alongside Nico Rosberg, Sebastian Vettel, and many others have raised voices on wanting women in motorsports. The Formula 1 championship has so far had only five F1 drivers. The last female driver in Formula 1 dated back to 1992.
