Lewis Hamilton has become the talk of the town after his recent contract signing. The Mercedes star made it official that he was here to stay after confirming his contract extension. Hamilton has been in this game for 10 years. And as he continues to stay with his team, it is exciting to know if he will win another championship title. The Brit has won seven world championships, six of which came from his Mercedes team. His contract, however, was about to come to an end by the end of the 2023 season.
Lewis Hamilton soon confirmed that he was here to stay. But with the way things have been in the sport, it is tough to say that he will win his 8th title. The driver was very close to his 8th in 2021 until it was taken away from him by Max Verstappen. Since then the Red Bull team has continued to win every single season with Verstappen closing in on his 3rd title win. However, F1 legend, Jackie Steward has something to say about Lewis’ 8th title.

Jackie was talking to Bild when he said, “First of all, Lewis is one of the best to ever drive in Formula 1,”
“But the truth is that in the last decade, he competed with Mercedes for a team that was virtually out of competition. And then he lost to Nico Rosberg. With respect: a good driver, but not the most talented in the world. But Rosberg was hungry and had the absolute will to become world champion. Lewis no longer has that hunger. Because of that – and because the car is no longer quite as powerful – he has serious problems.”
With that being said, it is tough to say if Hamilton would win another title.
Will Lewis Hamilton retire from F1 after 2025?
The contract with Mercedes is only two years long. Although there is a miracle that could happen, it is tough to say that Lewis Hamilton will win. Mercedes has struggled throughout the season and ever since the change of regulations. Hamilton has been threading as he is forced to watch Max Verstappen win every other race. However, he has made it clear that he still has “unfinished business” in the sport.
However, Verstappen has no plans to give up his dominance in the sport. Red Bull has been dominating tremendously ever since the 2021 season. If Lewis Hamilton has plans on winning his record-breaking title, it might take a while for it to come around. Nonetheless, there are multiple factors that come into play. Mercedes confessed that it was only now they understood the full mechanism of the regulations.

With Hamilton only having a contract until the end of 2025, it can be tough to beat Max Verstappen. 2026 will allow the sport to take upon new regulations. These regulations can be the only chance for Hamilton to win a title. However, with no luck so far and the next two years watching Red Bull dominate, it is also possible for Hamilton to retire from F1 after 2025.
