Oscar Piastri is undeniably one of the greatest finds of the motorsport industry, considering his performances across the Formula Feeder series were nothing short of impeccable. Subsequently, having won the championship titles in both Formula 2 and Formula 3, the Australian earned a seat at the historic McLaren outfit for the 2023 Formula 1 season.
After coping with early niggles, Piastri found himself back in the groove at the British Grand Prix and eventually acquired the attention of the fans and the media. What’s more, amidst the growing fame, the 22-year-old is gradually revealing stories about his personal life, which had remained a complete mystery.

One of them is indeed about his relationship. After years of absolute silence, Piastri finally showed up at Wimbledon with his girlfriend, Lily Zneimer, days after the race weekend at Silverstone. The young couple sported smart casual outfits on a sunny day in London and immediately attained the spotlight.
Several Twitter users were stunned as the pair made a public appearance, if not for the first time, at least after quite a while. Then arrived Piastri’s brief interview with 9News Australia from the historic courts at Church Road.
Amusing Oscar Piastri reacts to girlfriend question, leaves F1 world in laughter
During the interview, Piastri encountered an unavoidable question that had the potential to cause repercussions if answered incorrectly. The Australian had to reveal the duration of his active relationship. Fearing he might get the numbers wrong, the McLaren driver chose to do it in a rather smart way.
“We keep it private and we’ve been together for… I better get this right, about four-and-a-half years now,” he said as the duo burst into a chuckle. Several fans on Twitter noticed the brief hesitation in Piastri and hilariously called him out.
One fan quoted Piastri’s comment, “I better get this right” followed by a laughing emoji. Another fan wrote, “bro knows if he got it wrong cuz he’ll be sleepin on the couch.” Here are more such amusing responses from the F1 fandom.

Piastri has often been portrayed as a down-to-the-earth guy. Interestingly though, the 22-year-old revealed that it was indeed his girlfriend who kept him grounded despite the recent burst in fame.
Overall, while many assume that Oscar and Zneimer made their first public appearance at Wimbledon, the truth dates back to Autosport Awards in 2022 when Piastri earned the ‘Rookie of the Year’ award following a breathtaking 2021 F2 season. Hence, with their relationship no longer a secret, will Zneimer often make her presence known over the forthcoming Grand Prix events?
