Daniel Ricciardo has been in and out of the race quite a few times this season. The driver who started as Red Bull’s test, reserve, and third driver soon joined the AlphaTauri. Ricciardo had much more hopes for his return to the sport especially after being on the sidelines with no contract in hand.
After only a few races with the team, the Australian was rushed to the hospital. The driver had a massive impact on his wrist after a crash at the Zandvoort circuit in his free practice.
However, it was revealed that the Australian may not be able to perform for his team for a few races, and rookie Liam Lawson was brought in. After his surgery, the Red Bull bosses confirmed his absence from the tracks for a few races however, he had plans to return to Qatar. The driver received a lot of love and support but also a lot of negative comments over his on-again-off-again driving.

Daniel Ricciardo spoke about it to the West Australian, “That’s kind of my first test really to see where I’m at and simply make a call from there. I definitely want to be out there in… call it the next few weeks, that’s the plan. Probably early next week I should know.” As much as the driver wants to get back in his car, it seems impossible with his injury for now. Nonetheless, he hopes to be back by the time the races reach the US.
Daniel Ricciardo picks this ex-teammate over Max Verstappen amid Red Bull rumors
Daniel Ricciardo has been involved in some rumors of being a potential replacement for Sergio Perez. As soon as the driver appeared on Red Bull’s doorsteps, rumors were out that Perez was done for. And while the driver still has plans of replacing the driver, it seems he prefers someone else over his future teammate. The driver was asked recently who would he want to go on a nice road trip with.
However, Ricciardo did not hesitate to avoid Verstappen’s name. He said he would love to enjoy a trip with Lando Norris from McLaren.
The two were teammates and eventually became good friends. But with no contract extension in his hand from the papaya team, Daniel was heartbroken. However, the friendship stayed and it seems he would love to go on a road trip with him.

Nonetheless, Ricciardo seems to be adamant about getting back on his feet and in the car. The Australian is as bummed out as any other person, not being in the car. As the Qatar Grand Prix comes closer, Ricciardo will be finishing his simulation to prepare for another comeback.
