Lando Norris has become a driver of the public eye. After his great performance at Silverstone and Hungaroring, the Brit had every single eye on him. The driver surpassed Max Verstappen during the British Grand Prix and the qualifications. His pace and his skills to fight against some experienced drivers have Red Bull’s eyes on him. However, Norris may not be looking for a new team anytime soon.
Lando Norris has a contract with McLaren until the end of 2025. This means that even though he may not want to be with his team, he has to wait until 2026 to make any changes. Red Bull has both their star driver and second driver. However, Sergio Perez only has a contract with the Bulls until the end of 2024. With the talks of Lando replacing Sergio Perez, Red Bull may have to wait for at least another season. Norris also enjoys being the star driver of McLaren. This puts him in a great position to promote himself and his brand.
Signed on the dotted line. ✍️🇬🇧 @LandoNorris has committed to a new four-year agreement with McLaren Racing through to the end of 2025!

However, Lando Norris still has two more seasons with his papaya team. This puts Red Bull in a tough position because of the lack of options they may face for a year. The Red Bull team is known for getting in new drivers and firing the ones who don’t reach their expectations. Helmut Marko has explained his disappointment with Sergio Perez which would leave Verstappen to have a new teammate. However, with two drivers, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris doing pretty well, Red Bull could have an eye on any one of them.
How much does Lando Norris earn at McLaren?
Lando Norris earns a whopping $20 million with his current contract with McLaren. The Brit signed the contract in 2022 which is why he will continue until the end of 2025. However, he may not enjoy the same privileges with the Red Bull team. Norris has been the star of McLaren for quite a while. With his teammate still being a rookie in McLaren, all the hopes are rested with Lando.
Helmut Marko on Lando Norris:
“He is definitely a candidate for us.”
“In terms of youth and speed, he would suit us very well. Sergio, on the other hand, is already over 30 and is expecting his fourth child. So he also has other interests, so you have to see what happens next.”… pic.twitter.com/jikIOTESh8

Nonetheless, this does put the team in a tight situation. If Lando Norris goes on to accept Red Bull’s offer, this can put McLaren with a rookie and a new driver. However, it’s highly unlikely. The Brit has enjoyed some great privileges. Just for the sake of being in Red Bull, Norris might not agree to a $10 million or less contract.
At the same time, he will be stripped of all the privileges of being a priority or a star driver. This may be difficult for the Brit considering he would have to be a second driver to Max Verstappen. This also means that he would have to help Verstappen rather than compete with him. However, Norris still has two more seasons with McLaren until he can make a decision.
