Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen are often considered to be rivals. However, there is a tremendous amount of respect between the 2. Both of them have often complimented each other’s accomplishments.
Most recently, Lewis Hamilton complimented Max Verstappen for what he has accomplished this year. The Dutch driver is expected to win the Championship this weekend and the Qatar Grand Prix. He has already broken the record for most consecutive race wins and looks good to break his own record for most race wins in a season.
In a recent interview, Lewis Hamiltons said:
“I can’t say that I’ve had time to like study every aspect of what Max has done this year, but I think he’s done an amazing job,” Hamilton said. “He’s done everything he had to do. The team provided him with an amazing car, and he’s delivered pretty much every weekend.

“He can be proud of the job he has done. I know how it feels to be in a position like that, I mean he’s got a chance to win more races, the next two races, so he could take that record that he’s now taken even further if we can’t stop him or Ferrari can’t stop him. But yeah, not really a lot more to say. He’s done a great job.”
While Lewis Hamilton respects what Red Bull and Max Verstappen have done this year, he and the team are currently more focused on challenging them. Before Red Bull started their domination, the sport was dominated by Lewis Hamilton and Mercedes. But since the 2022 season, the 7-time-champion has yet to win a race.
Max Verstappen has done an amazing job according to Lewis Hamilton
This season, Max Verstappen and Red Bull have been absolutely unstoppable. Red Bull have won all but 1 race this season. Max Verstappen lost only 3 races. Twice to his teammate and the other to Carlos Sainz in Singapore.
While dominating, the Dutch driver broke the record for most consecutive wins and is on track to beat his own record for most wins in a season. While Lewis Hamilton was dominating, he never came close to beating these records.
However, Hamilton claims that he has had tougher teammates than Max Verstappen. None of Verstappen’s teammates have won a Championship. All of his teammates were young drivers who had just entered the sport. On the other hand, 3 of Lewis Hamilton’s teammates have won Championships. The others were also competitive drivers who gave Lewis a challenge at times.

In 2021, Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton fought for the Championship until the last lap of the last race. The Championship was eventually won by Max Verstappen. Although the season ended in controversy, there is no doubt that both drivers deserved to win the Championship based on the performances they had displayed that season. That season did spark some tension between the 2 drivers.
Despite the tension caused by the 2021 season, the two drivers still respect each other for their respective accomplishments. As mentioned above, Lewis Hamilton feels that Max Verstappen did an amazing job for Red Bull this season.
