Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Racing team is the 4th most successful F1 team ever. It is astonishing to see that they reached this level of accomplishment only since their advent in 2010. This success can be only attributed to two personalities at large, 7X WDC champion Lewis Hamilton and their team principal, Toto Wolff.
Wolff is the most important part of the Mercedes legacy in F1, he joined them in 2014 and has been the constant driver of success in the era of turbo-hybrid engines. He has been a driver in the 24 Hours Nürburgring, the Austrian Formula Ford Championship, the Italian GT Championship, and the FIA GT Championship.
Toto Wolff is the most talked about team principal in Formula 1, alongside Red Bull’s Christian Horner. They both share mutual respect but are arch-rivals when it comes to the sport.
Toto Wolff’s salary
Toto Wolff outearns competitor Christian Horner as well as more than half of the F1 grid collectively. The Mercedes legend is believed to be paid a staggering $16.9 Million every year, rendering him the most highly compensated team owner in his sport. The Austrian is paid higher than all drivers on the grid with the exception of Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Lando Norris, and Charles Leclerc.

Toto Wolff’s endorsements and investments
Wolff had a 30% stake in Mercedes’ F1 team, which he later increased by 3% to amount to 1/3rd of the company’s share. He also holds minor shares in Williams F1 Team and also a 1% share in Aston martin Aramco Cognizant F1 Team. He also owns a 49% share in German HWA Ag that runs the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race program for Mercedes Benz.
Surprisingly, with all this going on, Wolff also co-owns BRR Rallye Racing alongside former F1 driver Mika Hakkinen.

The Austrian is worth around $580 Million, which makes him richer than the richest F1 driver, Lewis Hamilton. He owns two houses, one in Emratingen in Switzerland, and one in Oxfordshire, England. The 51-year-old has investments totaling to a value of $140 Million and combined assets with a value of $370 Million. He also has diversified stock investments valued at over $100 Million in firms like Apple, Alphabet, Coca-Cola, JP Morgan and Berkshire Hathaway.
Toto Wolff’s car collection
Toto Wolff is a car enthusiast of the utmost level. He, in one of his interviews, stated that he did not know how many cars he owned. The more memorable cars from his list include a Mercedes AMG GTR, Mercedes SLS AMG, Mercedes SLS 300 SL, a Bugatti Veyron, and a Maserati Granturismo.
Lewis Hamilton recognizes the Austrian to be his friend and commented on their relationship, “We’ve had tough, tough times, we’ve had tough negotiations, there’s been emotional bursts, a rollercoaster of emotions together over the years, but we’re like family. I want what’s best for him. He wants what is best for me.” in one interview.
