Yuki Tsunoda has been a driver for AlphaTauri for three seasons so far. His contract with the Red Bull Junior’s team has drawn a lot of attention to the driver recently. Tsunoda is the only Japanese driver on the grid and is a rookie in the Formula 1 sport. Yuki’s inspiration to race in motorsports came after watching his father compete in local races. His father was a mechanic who had a big influence on the Japanese driver.
His first move towards Formula 1 started in F4 in 2016. While competing in Formula 4, he had his first-ever breakthrough in the sport in 2018 becoming the F4 champion. Soon he won a race and three podiums in Formula 3, making his name in that field. Apart from his F3 career, he also took part in EuroFormula Open and Toyota Racing Series.
Soon he paved his way to Formula 2 and started driving alongside, Jehan Daruvala. They both were in the Red Bull Junior’s Team. However, after his entry into the F1 world, things changed for him. He started driving alongside Pierre Gasly but after Gasly’s move to Alpine, Tsunoda found himself another rookie teammate.
Yuki Tsunoda has a net worth of $5 million
Nyck de Vries and Tsunoda drove for AlphaTauri but soon Daniel Ricciardo replaced Nyck at the Junior team. Tsunoda’s contract with Red Bull, however, has not been specified. Yuki started driving for AlphaTauri in 2021. After good results, Franz Tost made it clear that Yuki would have his seat in 2023 too. Helmut Marko also spoke in support of the Japanese driver.
Apart from his non-disclosed contract, Yuki Tsunoda takes home a salary of $1 million per year. Although he comes in the lowest-paid driver’s category for now, it is a great achievement as a rookie. However, his net worth as of 2023 is an estimated $5 million which is the same as Nyck de Vries.
His years in Formula 1 have brought a huge deal of sponsors and endorsements for the driver. These endorsements have also contributed to the Japanese driver’s net worth. Tsunoda was first sponsored by Honda and has also been supported by the “Honda Formula Dream” since 2016. It is also speculated that Honda brought Yuki an opportunity in the Red Bull junior car.
Apart from that, he also has been endorsed by Protex, Platz. Yuki Tsunoda also endorses Arai Helmet, which is a Japanese helmet brand that manufactures motorsports helmets. Tsunoda also endorsed a Japanese skincare brand, Bulk Homme last season at his home race.
