SUMMARY
- GTA 6 trailer had several parodies to real life people and incidents.
- Florida Joker threatened to sue Rockstar Games over one such parody but now he has changed his mind.
After Rockstar Games released the trailer for GTA 6, the trailer went on to break many records in terms of viewership. The trailer shows the city of Vice and fans have appreciated the real-life look of the game. The trailer had a short clip of a tattooed criminal being taken to court, and Sullivan also known as the Florida Joker immediately accused Rockstar of ripping off his appearance.
Since then, over months, Florida Joker has come out with many social media videos demanding ransom from Rockstar Games for using his likeness in GTA 6. He went on to dye his hair to resemble the character in the trailer to further ascertain his claim.
The demanded amount started from $1 million and even went up to $10 million. He even threatened a lawsuit against Rockstar Games if they failed to get in touch with him on time. Sullivan also commented that he has made the next GTA game famous.
Florida Joker gives Rockstar Games a new offer
Florida Joker has again come out to give a message to Rockstar over using his likeness in GTA 6. However, this time Sullivan proposes something completely different than what he has done in the past.
He went on to post another video on TikTok as a message to the GTA developers, but this time he was not asking for ransom or threatening to take Rockstar Games to the court. “GTA, Rockstar, Take-Two, we gotta talk. I’m not suing you anymore, but you’re still out your goddamn nuggets,” added Sullivan.
This time as a rather surprise, Sullivan said that he wanted to provide the voice of the GTA 6 character that he is purportedly modeled after. He also went on to demand a salary of $50,000 to $100,000 in exchange. In addition, the Florida Joker also offered to go and do things to promote the game like meet-and-greets and autograph signings at events like Comic-Con once it releases in 2025.
“Two months. Y’all still haven’t reached out to me, still haven’t [messaged] me. Let’s do what’s right. Show me like $50,000, $100,000, let me voice the character, let me go to the meet and greets. Let me promote the game.” He added.
Sullivan seems to have moved on from suing the company for the character and instead wants to voice the said character and promote the game.
Other similar cases with Rockstar Games
His persistent communications and threats of legal action along with his new offer have not received a response from GTA 6 developer Rockstar Games or its parent firm Take-Two. However, this is not the first instance something of this sort has happened with the GTA games.
Similar to this, in 2014 an actress named Lindsay Lohan sued Rockstar Games. Her allegations against Rockstar Games were that they had used her likeness to create the character Lacey Jonas in Grand Theft Auto 5.
Furthermore, she asserted that Rockstar Games had imitated her appearance in the game by using her face, hairstyle, and even items from her clothing line.
However, she couldn’t win the case in court and it was dropped in 2018. Therefore, Sullivan’s new offer to Rockstar Games might have come after the realization that he could not win this in court. This is because the developer has had a long history of winning such cases in court.
