Gone are the days when Floyd Mayweather used to fight boxing legends inside the ring. He comes out of retirement to take on YouTuber turned boxer Logan Paul in an exhibition fight.
This fight has received a lot of criticism because it’s not a traditional matchup between a boxer vs a boxer. Logan Paul has one pro fight in his career where he lost to YouTuber KSI. And now he is about to fight a legend of the sport Floyd Mayweather, which might be an insult to the boxers out there who have been training for years to earn an opportunity to fight at a big stage.
But it can not be denied that fights like this are making boxing interesting again. The fight between Jake Paul and Ben Askren made no sense. But, it was able to get the attention of a lot of fans. These fights are giving boxing a much-needed push and a fan base.
Though Logan Paul is not a favorite going into the fight he is certainly putting the effort to make the best out of this opportunity. In the latest episode of Impaulsive podcast, Logan Paul talked about the upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather and said:
“This fight, this opportunity is the biggest opportunity of a lifetime. And I am not gonna let it go to waste.”
Logan Paul gives his prediction for Floyd Mayweather fight
Logan Paul believes he is a much-improved boxer right now and Mayweather has made a big mistake by delaying the fight and allowing him to sharpen his skills. Paul claimed:
“It is a little cliche but when you stay ready you don’t get to get ready. So we’ve been training for the past 8 months hard, waiting for training camp. And I honestly think, Floyd delaying this fight was the biggest mistake he could have made. Because in the last 8 months, the jumps I’ve made have been exponential in this sport.”
When asked about whether he is confident of winning the fight against Floyd Mayweather, Logan Paul predicted a knockout against Mayweather.
This is going to be a big event irrespective of the criticism it has received. It might not match the numbers of Mayweather vs Pacquiao or Mayweather vs McGregor, but it will certainly be a successful event.
