The Premier League has seen many world-class players come and go. And currently, we have the likes of Kevin de Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Cristiano Ronaldo who are still balling out in front of tens of thousands every week. One player who is certainly growing more popular would be Manchester City striker Erling Haaland.
The Norwegian forward has had a electrifying start to the season so far. It’s only October and he has already found the net 20 times for Man City. Moreover, he scored back-to-back hat tricks, one of which came against Manchester United.

In the light of his recent performances, many have compared Haaland to the all-time greats. For instance, fans say that at this rate, Haaland will easily surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s legacy in the PL, and in football.
Will Erling Haaland be able to reach Cristiano Ronaldo’s heights?
Ronaldo had went through a goal-drought recently. To be honest, in the limited games he has featured in, Ronaldo has had decent performances but could not get on the scoresheet. However, he put an end to all that against Everton and scored the winner for Man Utd. Moreover, it was his 700th club career goal, as the Portuguese striker extends his lead at the top.

As for Haaland, he is currently on 155 goals scored in 196 games, according to Transfermarkt. To reach Ronaldo’s milestone of 700 goals, Haaland would have to score at least 40 goals per season till the year 2037. That would be when he would reach Ronaldo’s current age of 38.

Considering his current form, many may think that Erling will find it easy to do it. However, one major factor that separates CR7 from every other player is his longevity and his goals after he turned 30. Initially, Ronaldo played as a left-winger.
Many believe that after his almost career-ending injury in 2014, he had to make the decision of changing his position to a goal poacher. This was one of the major reasons for Ronaldo to score more goals than before.
If Erling Haaland can achieve this feat by staying consistent and injury free, the record may be achievable. After all, he has one of the best managers in football history in Pep Guardiola to guide him on the path to success.
