Sebastian Vettel is a German race driver. He started his Formula 1 career in 2017 when he was signed to Scuderia Toro Rosso and became the youngest winner of a Driver’s Championship at the age of 23.
EARLY CAREER AND FORMULA 1 DEBUT
The German motorsport racing driver, Sebastian Vettel, started karting. He looked up to the German Formula 1 driver, Michael Schumacher as his inspiration. Sebastian Vettel started his career in the Junior BMW Series and finished first in multiple races, winning the series championship by finishing first in 18 of the 20 races.
He soon started competing in the Formula 3 Euro Series and World Series by Renault. Vettel made his debut in Formula 1 in 2007 after signing with Toro Rosso as their third driver. His first ever Formula 1 win came in 2008 at the Italian Grand Prix and bought Toro Rosso their first win at the age of 21.
RED BULL DOMINATION
Sebastian Vettel had impressed Red Bull with his win with Toro Rosso and their not-so-dominating car. Thus they signed him as their driver in 2009. With his seat in Red Bull, Sebastian Vettel started his season with 4 race wins. He also finished second in the World Driver’s Championship in his first season with Red Bull.
By 2010, Vettel had won 5 races and also the penultimate race, the Brazilian Grand Prix. He gave Red Bull their first Manufacturer’s Championship. He had not finished first until the final race of the season but managed to win the Driver’s Championship and became the 3rd driver to do so in Formula 1 history.
Vettel had already dominated the season by winning 11 of the 19 races in 2011. He won his Second Driver’s Championship in 2011. In his fourth season with Red Bull, he again won 5 races and brought home his Third consecutive Driver’s Championship win.
His performance in 2011 and 2012 with Red Bull also earned them their second and third consecutive Manufacturer’s Championship title. During his 5th season with Red Bull, he became the first driver with 9 consecutive race wins in one season and earned his Fourth Driver’s Championship title.
FOUR SEASONS WITH FERRARI
In 2015, Sebastian Vettel signed with Ferrari. He stood 3rd place and 4th in 2015 and 2016 respectively in the Driver’s Championship standings. In 2017, Vettel had a strong start to his season and won 3 of the 6 races and continued to win 2 more by the end of the season. That placed him Second to Lewis Hamilton.
Sebastian Vettel won 5 races in 2018 with Ferrari and once again placed second to Lewis Hamilton by the end of the season.
ASTON MARTIN – FINAL YEARS IN FORMULA 1
Vettel signed with Aston Martin in 2021. He started his season with Aston Martin with not much luck in the start of the season. After finally earned his first few points in the 5th race of the season by finishing 5th.
He won his first podium with the Aston Martin car at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix by finishing 2nd. He ended 12th in the Driver’s standings. After being tested positive for COVID in 2022, he missed the first 2 races. After his return, in July, he announced his retirement from Formula 1 by the end of the season.
