Gable Steveson is an American freestyle and wrestler who won the gold medal in the recently concluded Tokyo Olympics 2020. He competed in the 125 kg category of the wrestling event and defeated three-time and reigning World champion Geno Petriashvili 10-8 in the finals of the tournament.
He also received a lot of plaudits after winning the finals by making an incredible comeback. Owing to the fact that Gable was trailing by a point in the final ten seconds of the match and was on the verge of losing the finals. However, he landed a takedown with less than one second on the clock to win the match and secure a gold medal for his country.
After winning the gold medal at the Olympics, Gable Steveson has grabbed headlines once again as he has expressed his wish that he would love to take part in WWE or switch to mixed martial arts. Moreover, a few hours ago Gable Steveson has intensified this news by tagging UFC President Dana White in a tweet. Therefore fight fans are excited after seeing this tweet as another fighter could join the heavily stacked UFC heavyweight roster.

However, Dana White has not responded to the Olympic gold medalist yet. Therefore it would be interesting how this entire story unfolds. If Gable Steveson signs with the promotion, he will become the third Olympic gold medalist behind Kevin Jackson and Henry Cejudo to have fought in UFC.
Looking at the success that wrestlers have had inside the Octagon, it’s safe to say that Steveson will have an added advantage if does end up inside the UFC Octagon.
UFC will face tough competition from WWE to sign 2020 Tokyo Olympics gold medalist Gable Steveson
UFC would love to welcome Gable Steveson in the sport as he would attract a lot of viewers and would bring a ton of new fans to the promotion. Further, he has the potential to emulate Henry Cejudo’s success in the octagon and become a global superstar. Therefore the addition of Steveson would be very exciting for fight fans all around the world.
However, they will have to get past WWE to sign the gold medalist. Because WWE has already expressed their intentions to sign the American wrestler by giving hints on their social media pages. Moreover, Gable has been in touch with Brock Lesnar and his manager Paul Heyman in the past.
As a result, UFC needs to get in contact with Gable Steveson quickly, or else WWE would come in and take away a bright prospect from their hands. Additionally, looking at how money has never been an issue in the professional wrestling industry, Steveson could be more inclined towards WWE. However, a case can be made that stepping inside the UFC Octagon only adds glowy to his already illustrious wrestling career, and it’s needless to say that the doors of WWE will be open regardless.
