The second round of fixtures in Group A of the UEFA Euro Cup 2024 will kick off with hosts Germany coming up against Hungary in Stuttgart. Julian Nagelsmann will be confident in his side’s prowess to make it two wins in two and secure qualification to the round of 16. Hungary, though, will be far from an easy obstacle to clear, considering the flair and brilliance at their disposal as well as their unbeaten record against the Germans since 2016.
Germany’s recent form has been splendid with four wins, a draw, and just a single defeat in their last six games. Their opening day 5-1 victory against Scotland has firmly paved the way for them to enjoy a successful European championship. Another three points against Hungary will more or less guarantee their progression to the knockout stages.
On the other hand, Hungary is in a spot of bother heading into their second fixture. Switzerland punished them brutally with a 3-1 win, significantly reducing Hungary’s chances of qualification. Hungarian coach, Marco Rossi will be well aware that his team will be up against all the odds at Stuttgart. However, another defeat will in all likelihood confirm the national team’s elimination from the tournament in the group stage itself.
Germany vs Hungary: Probable line-ups
Julian Nagelsmann will feel no need to alter his line-up which managed a glorious victory in the first game. Joshua Kimmich and Maximilian Mittelstaedt will continue to venture forward from the fullback roles, while the veteran, Toni Kroos will drop deeper to dictate the rhythm of the game. All eyes once again will be on the prospects, Florian Wirtz and Jamal Musiala, to amaze the soccer world with their genius.
Hungary is expected to take the field in a 3-4-2-1 formation with Barnabas Varga leading the line in attack. Captain, Dominik Szoboszlai will carry the load of the expectations, as the Liverpool man prepares to step up for his country. Personnel changes are not expected from Marco Rossi who expressed his faith in the players to come good this time around.
Germany’s probable line-up: Neuer; Kimmich, Rudiger, Tah, Mittelstaedt; Andrich, Kroos, Gundogan; Musiala, Wirtz, Havertz
Hungary’s probable line-up: Gulacsi; Lang, Orban, Szalai; Bolla, Nagy, Schafer, Kerkez; Sallai, Szoboszlai, Varga
