Colby Covington-Jorge Masvidal

Colby Covington has come all guns blazing against Jorge Masvidal for  running away from fighting him, and ducking Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight championship. Colby claimed that Masvidal overpriced himself, and thinks that he deserves “Conor McGregor money.” Colby Covington told Submission Radio that Jorge Masvidal is scared to fight Kamaru Usman, and is in a position where he is overpricing himself for the title fight that he can’t win. Covington claimed that Masvidal will not fight Kamaru Usman for a lower paycheck to lose. He also mentioned how Gilbert Burns vs Kamaru Usman for the UFC welterweight championship can open doors for the biggest fight in the welterweight division. The fight being Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal.

““Just like I told you guys months ago, I said that Journeyman Street Judas Masvidal was gonna overprice himself. He thinks that his Broken Mediocre Fighter means something. It’s not worth anything. It’s a Bernie Sanders participation trophy. He overpriced himself. He thought he was worth Conor McGregor money, he was asking for five-ten million for fighting Marty Fake Usman, they didn’t want to give him anywhere even near that.””

Both the fighters go long back, and are former best-friends and ATT training partners, until recently where it was reported that Covington was allegedly fired from the gym. However, Covington did not see it as a weakness, and promised fight fans that the opportunity allows him to get even better and bigger with the coming days. It was rumored that Covington was scheduled to face Tyron Woodley, however, the fight did not see the light of the day.

Colby Covington vs Jorge Masvidal in July?

Colby Covington believes that should Usman vs Burns take place, Jorge Masvidal would have no one to fight next. In that case, going forward, it’s very likely that Covington vs Masvidal can take place to determine if Colby Covington gets another shot at the title belt. Additionally, if nothing works out, Covington called out Dustin Poirier. Covington mentioned that in a situation where he doesn’t get his rematch against Kamaru Usman, or the big fight against Jorge Masvidal, former interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier is on his radar.
