Novak Djokovic has had a very average season in the first half of 2022 since he had failed to win a single major grand slam title or even make an appearance in the finals of one. Novak Djokovic lost his world no 1 rank to Daniil Medvedev again after losing it at the beginning of the year to the Russian player as well.
Daniil Medvedev was able to become a world no 1 for the first time in his career due to his final appearance in the Australian Open against Rafael Nadal which ultimately ended in a defeat.
However, Novak Djokovic soon took over the No 1 position which he had defended for over 373 weeks.
But due to his defeat in the Rolland Garros quarterfinals, Djokovic was not given the points he had earned from his previous title win at the French Open.
With the upcoming Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic would surely be looking forward to winning his first grand slam title of the year and also getting his world no 1 rank bank as well.
Novak has not been in the top 2 ranks of the ATP for the first time in four years. He faced a difficult 2017 due to a lot of changes in teams which lead to an internal crisis.
Zapata Miralles shares his locker room interaction with Novak Djokovic
Zapata Miralles has an excellent run in the Rolland Garros and when he was asked about his experiences of the tournament, he recalled the time when he met Novak, he said,
“I had the opportunity to speak with Novak [Djokovic] in the locker room, I had never exchanged a word with him, only he confronted me speaking in English and I got a little caught up, I got nervous (laughs),”
“It was five minutes of talk, he was interested in me, he congratulated me, he asked me about Valencia, super nice. The next day he saw us training and immediately came to greet us as if he were a lifelong colleague (laughs),”
Novak will surely be aiming to do well in the upcoming Wimbledon since his participation in the US Open still remains in a doubt due to his reluctance to take the COVID-19 Vaccine.
