Who are the cover athletes for NBA 2k22?

With the NBA Season coming to an end, so does the game cycle for NBA 2k21. In true fashion of any video game franchise, before the end of this iteration they begin the promotion for the next one. Especially for sports games they have a shelf life of just one year. That’s why the promotion begins even before the NBA Finals ends. So who made the Cover of NBA 2k22?

Who is on the Cover of NBA 2k22 Standard Edition?

NBA2k has multiple cover athletes differentiated by the version of the game. The base version that is the standard edition is the cheapest of the versions. The only difference, besides the cost, are some free in-game items.

In previous 2k’s there was just one cover and this is the modern day equivalent of that. On this year’s cover we see one of the best young and up-and-coming stars of the league. Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is the cover star. This is the first time Luka has become a cover athlete but the way his career trajectory is on he will make a lot more front covers.

Huge honor to be on the cover of #NBA2K22. Thanks @NBA2K! pic.twitter.com/ptIhpVNUdN

Which NBA Legends made the Cover of the Special 75th Anniversary Edition?

It was in the 2015 the NBA2k introduced the alternate covers for NBA2k. That first cover included Michael Jordan on it. Since then the Legends to be included on the cover were LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O’Neal and even Dwayne Wade.

This year, to celebrate 75 years since the NBA came into existence they will have 3 former basketball Legends on the cover. One from the 70’s, one from the 00’s and one who is currently playing in the league. The one representing the 70’s is Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He’s regarded as the greatest center in NBA history and a worthy inclusion to the cover.

The Player who is representing the 00’s is Dirk Nowitzki. He’s a 14 time all-star and a former MVP. A player extremely loved and had a long amazing career spanning 21 years.

The NBA Player representing the now is Kevin Durant. After amazing performances throughout his career, KD is a true legend still in the game. He’s been on multiple covers of the 2k and will continue in that in NBA 2k22.

Other Special Edition Cover Stars

Extremely proud and humbled to be the first female cover athlete in the history of @NBA2K

I’m honored to work with a company that’s investing in women and betting on us to succeed. I’m hopeful there will be many more badass females to follow 💪🏽💪🏽 pic.twitter.com/WJan4YE7Qt

In NBA 2k20, the game first introduced the WNBA. And now 3 years on a WNBA Player will be a cover athlete. Candance Parker is the first female athlete to be the cover athlete. Its a Game Stop exclusive edition. Also Rui Hachimura of the Washington Wizards is on the cover of NBA2k22 edition in Japan.
