It seems like Kamaru Usman is not holding back his views on the former dual champion the Notorious Conor McGregor as the current undisputed welterweight champion rained down on the Irish fighter and claimed that McGregor is not what he used to be inside the cage. Usman shared his views on how Conor is looked at these days, not an excellent fighter, but a famous fighter who brings in a lot of money, attention, and recognition.
“Right now, it’s more of a loudmouth. He’s a loudmouth. He’s a guy that can compete but he’s not the champion, Conor McGregor. He’s not the double champion, he’s not that guy anymore. He’s just a guy that’s in the UFC that if he wasn’t Conor, hasn’t done the things that he’s done then he would just be a regular fighter. The level of respect he gets now, he’s just a regular fighter with a lot of money and lot of hype and recognition but the old Conor, the hungry Conor, that was the fighter that fighters respected.” Usman said on McGregor.

Conor McGregor has had lackluster past few years. The Notorious has remained outside of the cage and lost his most recent fight against Dustin Poirier in his lightweight return. McGregor suffered a KO loss at the hands of Poirier who decimated the former dual champion with brutal calf kicks, and a right hook to the temple that dropped McGregor on the canvas, marking his first stoppage loss inside the Octagon.
Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman is coming off a vicious KO win over Gamebred Jorge Masvidal in his fourth successful title defense. Usman is likely to face Colby Covington next, however, nothing has been confirmed so far with Leon Edwards vs Nate Diaz looking like a #1 title shot opportunity.
What if Conor McGregor loses the rematch against Dustin Poirier?
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that it would spoil McGregor’s illustrious career should he suffer another loss at the hands of Dustin Poirier. The former featherweight and lightweight champion has expressed his desire to imitate his last UFC run where he went on to become a two-division champion.

However, it hasn’t been like the last time around where McGregor decimated each of his opponents inside two rounds to get to the belt. McGregor has not won a single fight in the UFC’s lightweight division since his TKO win over Eddie Alvarez. It remains to be seen what lies ahead for McGregor. Needless to say, should he get past Poirier, a championship shot is next for the Irish fighter.
