With less than a week left for the fight, both Izzy and Bobby Knuckles are promoting the main event title bout by giving interviews to different media outlets. Consequently, the Grim Reaper sat down for an interview with Yahoo Sports yesterday. While having a conversation, Kevin Iole asked Whittaker what makes Adesanya’s striking separate from other fighters in the division.
“Yeah, he’s definitely a different sort of physical cat. His reach and length create such a different dynamic when you’re striking with him. Robert Whittaker also revealed how he’ll tackle Izzy’s striking. “Having that first-hand basis knowledge of his range and reach will definitely help plus we’ve got a lot of working with some taller rangy guys.”
Robert Whittaker believes that he can make Israel Adesanya uncomfortable with his skillset
Israel Adesanya suffered his first MMA loss against Jan Blachowicz in the light heavyweight title fight at UFC 259. Consequently, the middleweight title challenger Robert Whittaker was questioned in an interview with Yahoo! Sports about his takeaways from Izzy’s loss ahead of his upcoming fight at UFC 271.
The Grim Reaper confidently responded by saying that he can do better than Blachowicz. “I think if I can go in there and utilise my full skill set and take the fight to different angles and give him different looks and showcase different weapons. I think I’ll make him uncomfortable and I think that’s what Jan did very well and I think I can do it better.”
Bobby Knuckles has showcased some impressive striking in his last three fights in the UFC. Now that Whittaker is under the guidance of legendary coach Johnny Lewis, it would be interesting to see his gameplan against The Last Stylebender at UFC 271.
