Randy Orton is one of the greatest WWE superstars of all time. Orton made his professional wrestling debut back in 2002, and ever since then, he has etched his name along with other prominent WWE legends. Moreover, The Apex Predator has achieved every accolade there is to achieve during his over 20-year legendary WWE career and is all set to become a Hall of Famer in the future.
However, a career-threatening back injury last year derailed the momentum he had even in his 40s. In May 2022, Randy Orton, along with his RK-Bro partner, Matt Riddle defended their Raw tag titles against The Usos in a title unification match. After having an amazing tag-team run, RK-Bro failed to retain the tag titles on an episode of SmackDown.
Furthermore, after losing the tag titles, they also suffered a humiliating beatdown at the hands of Roman Reigns and The Bloodline. During that beatdown, Orton unfortunately suffered a back injury, that turned out to be more serious than everyone thought. Following the injury, The Viper underwent multiple surgeries and had a long road to recovery. As of now, Randy is still out of action on doctors’ advice.
Moreover, as per reports, Orton’s injury also resulted in WWE making major changes to their main event plans in the summer of 2022. The reports suggested that The Viper was set to headline Summerslam against Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. However, that did not turn out to be the case due to Orton getting injured and being out of action.
Bob Orton is not confident about his son Randy Orton’s WWE return
Multiple updates have been provided on Randy’s potential comeback to the ring. It was previously reported that the surgeries went well, and it is just a matter of time when The Viper returns. He was rumored to make his surprise return at WrestleMania 39. However, when Orton didn’t appear at the Showcase of the Immortals, things became more concerning for the WWE Universe.
Recently, WWE Hall of Famer, “Cowboy” Bob Orton was asked about his son’s condition and his chances of returning. Orton’s father revealed that he is currently training and buckling himself up for a return to action. He also said that Randy can return if he wants to, but he is currently being taken care of pretty well. Bob further disclosed that doctors have advised him not to step inside the ring.
