The debate regarding who is the face of British boxing continues to divide boxing fans. While some believe its Tyson Fury, owing to his blockbuster performances, heated rivalry with Deontay Wilder, and his historic run as a two-time heavyweight champion, others are in the favor of Anthony Joshua, who not only won the country a medal at the Olympics but is a former two-time unified heavyweight champion.

Be that as it may, after back-to-back losses against Oleksandr Usyk, it’s safe to say Tyson Fury takes the lead in terms of a more prolific heavyweight career. The undefeated WBC and lineal Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury is all set to face Oleksandr Usyk sometime next year, and it goes without saying, we might finally get our answer as to who is the most successful British boxer in the modern era.
However, there’s another race that seems to have caught the attention of boxing fans, and rightfully so. Who is more popular? Tyson Fury or Anthony Joshua? The PPV numbers are a good indicator to settle that debate and as far as the recent numbers are concerned, it looks like Anthony Joshua is winning the race.
How many PPV buys for Tyson Fury vs Derek Chisora 3?
Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing reports disappointing figures for Fury vs Chisora 3. Anthony Joshua’s promoter opined that the much-criticized trilogy fight between Tyson Fury and Derek Chisora did no more than 300,000 PPV buys on BT Sports Boxoffice.
“People watching this will say ‘come on Eddie’ but I know the numbers. At the end of the day, Tyson Fury against Derek Chisora did less than 300,000 on pay-per-view, right? AJ could fight you and do 500,000 buys on pay-per-view.” Hearn said.

It’s hard not to agree with Eddie Hearn. While Joshua vs Usyk did in the excess of a million PPV buys, even Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev managed to bring in 600,000 PPV buys according to reports. It will be interesting to see how much Fury vs Usyk does in 2023, and with those numbers, even the debate around the most popular British boxer should come to rest.
