Two years ago, The leader of the Cenation landed himself in a major controversy, for which he faced massive backlash. In the midst of International tensions between China and Taiwan, Cena literally angered the fans by belittling Taiwan. And apologizing to his fans in China for calling Taiwan ‘A Country’.
Actually, China doesn’t view Taiwan as an independent country. China refers to Taiwan as an integral part of its own country. Moreover, Cena’s apology to China led to fans all over the world saying he was cowardly bowing down to China due to his “F9” movie releasing on a lot of screens there.

The issue started when John Cena showcased his linguistic skills by speaking Mandarin in Taiwan. During an interview with TVBS (a Taiwanese broadcaster), he said, “Taiwan is the first country that can watch F9,” in Mandarin. Cena was referring to his then-upcoming movie “Fast and Furious 9”.
However, it did not go well for Cena in mainland China. So much so, that he later had to apologize for his comments on Taiwan. In an interview with a Taiwanese broadcaster, Cena admitted it was inappropriate to call Taiwan ‘a country’.
Later, the former 16-time WWE champion also issued an apology on his Chinese Weibo account, where he has over 600,000 fans. “I’m very sorry for my mistakes. Sorry. Sorry. I’m really sorry. You have to understand that I love and respect China and Chinese people,” Cena told his Chinese fans. This enraged the fans even more.

Recently, Cena admitted that his body won’t allow him to be in the wrestling arena every day anymore. He was also reflecting on his last match at WrestleMania 39, saying that was all he could do. Hence, it remains to be seen whether Cena has more left to do in the ring or if this is it.
