Islam Makhachev and Bobby Green square off inside the UFC Octagon in a five-round main event at UFC Vegas 49 inside APEX in Las Vegas this weekend. Both the fighter officially made weight ahead of the bout and had a heated face-off in the lead-up to the bout. While it was nothing that the fans did not expect from a fight involving Bobby Green, it was Makhachev’s responses that actually grabbed the attention of fight fans.
Islam Makhachev and Bobby Green share the cage in a catchweight bout at 160 lbs. “Are you ready?” Makhachev inquired. “Yessir, let’s go,” Green fired back. “I think you are not ready, you know this.” Makhachev continued as Green responded. Watch the video below for the entire segment.
Bobby Green has said a lot of things in the lead-up to the fight that must have not gone well with Islam Makhachev. Earlier, Green had called Makhachev a “boring” fighter and joked about sleeping while watching his fights. While Green did compliment his ability to win and called him a “championship material,” he showed concern with Makhachev’s ability to put up performances for the fans.
How ready is Bobby Green for Islam Makhachev?
It’s one thing to say Bobby Green is fresh of a fight and will be more confident going inside the Octagon, now on a two-fight win-streak, but taking on someone of the caliber of Islam Makhachev definitely requires months of training and planning. While the puncher’s chance leans towards Bobby Green, it won’t be wrong to say that Makhachev can beat Bobby Green in all the departments.

Moreover, the fact that Makhachev was training for an equally competitive Beneil Dariush the last several months, gives him a higher edge in terms of performance, preparation, and conditioning.
There’s no denying, Bobby Green is extremely sophisticated, and his unorthodox approach could be a problem for Makhachev in striking exchanges. But when it comes to grappling, the level of expertise and experience will definitely favor the Dagestani fighter. Additionally, with Dagestani fighters often being termed as “weight-bullies,” it won’t be wrong to say that the catchweight limit of 160 lbs will favor Makhachev more than Bobby Green. Be that as it may, Bobby Green has every chance of causing an upset, and in a sport i.e mixed martial arts, anything can happen.
