Jake Paul picked up an emphatic win over Ben Askren at Triller Fight Club. The YouTuber turned Boxer proved the critics wrong as he decimated the former MMA champion, Ben Askren, with a vicious right hand to drop him on the canvas. Askren took some time to recover and looked wobbly on his feet. The referee called the fight, as an emotional Jake Paul errupted in joy.
Ben Askren addressed the media in the post-fight press conference and claimed that he is never going to fight again. The former Bellator and ONE welterweight champion spoke about the possibility of fighting again in the near future as he shut the doors on a potential return to any kind of in-ring or in-cage action.
What’s next for Ben Askren?
The highly anticipated boxing bout was criticized for a lot of reasons with many professional boxers calling it a joke on the sport. Jake Paul and Ben Askren took home huge pay-days for the show, and it was the YouTuber turned professional boxer who picked up the win after everything was said and done. Here’s what Ben Askren said.
“I won’t be back.”
“I will not be in any sort of cage.”
“Podcasting and coaching, and that’s what I told you guys all I am gonna do. It’s unfortunate, I thought I was gonna be better. That was not fun.”
Needless to say, the loss doesn’t really scar Askren’s legacy as a mixed martial artist which saw him remain undefeated in his first stint with the ONE and Bellator. Askren picked up notable wins over the likes of Douglas Lima, and Robbie Lawler and will definitely go down as one of the all-time great.
It’s safe to say that with the loss, Askren is expected to see a lot of criticism in the coming days. Talking about the same, Askren joked that he probably deserves it after losing to Jake Paul.
“I probably deserve it. Because I got knocked out by fu**** Jake Paul.”
Meanwhile, Jake Paul is sure to set his goals higher as he picked up the third straight win over his professional boxing career. Earlier, he had stated that a potential boxing bout with Conor McGregor could be right around the corner. However, only time will tell what lies ahead for Jake Paul as a professional boxer.
