Ashleigh Barty, one of the brightest stars of tennis recently broke the heart of her fans. The star from Australia was last seen in the US Open. Since then she has been out of court. The 1st rank player has had a stunning 2021 year. She won Wimbledon this year and 4 other titles as well. Her fans were eagerly waiting for the return of the player but some shocking news stunned her fans.

The heart of the matter

Recently, Ashleigh Barty announced that she has decided to withdraw from the upcoming WTA finals. The reason that comes out is that the player recently returned to Australia in September and if she decides to play, it will be a second quarantine stint in two months which would eventually tire her as she will not be able to play her 100% on the court.

The defending champion said, “I wanted to let everyone know that I won’t be competing in any further tournaments in 2021, including the WTA Finals in Mexico, “It was a difficult decision but I need to prioritize my body and my recovery from our 2021 season and focus on having the strongest pre-season for the Australian summer.” said the world number 1 player. 

“With ongoing challenges of traveling back to Queensland and quarantine requirements, I am not willing to compromise my preparation for January. “I wish the WTA team and the players all the best for a successful WTA Finals and the rest of the year.” Ashleigh further added. 

 

What’s next for Ashleigh Barty?

After her withdrawal from the WTA finals in Mexico, the player has said that her 2021 season is now over and she is totally devoting her time for the preparations of the Australian Open tournament in the month of January next year. Being an Australian, she would most certainly want the glory to remain in her country. 

It will be interesting to see how the player performs next year. The talent she possesses might help her to attain new heights.
