After an impressive win over Paulo Costa, the middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya said that he still wants to “f**k up” Jon Jones. But he did not confirm a move to light heavyweight next.
The former light heavyweight champion, Jon Jones responded to Adesanya and called him a coward for ducking him. Jones sent a stern warning to Adesanya in his recent Instagram post:
“but what? You’ve stepped into the ring over 100 times now and you’re still not ready!? You have a youth advantage and like four times the fighting experience. The truth is you’re already my pussy, you love being undefeated and you’ve seen what’s happened to everyone else. It raises your stock to mention my name, you’re aware of this. You don’t want real confrontation with me, I’m not gonna just stand there and kickbox with you. I’ve been preparing for heavyweights, right around now I would literally tear one of your arms off.”
Is Israel Adesanya ducking Jon Jones?
Ever since Jon Jones has decided to move up to heavyweight many potential exciting matchups have been discussed for him. He is likely to fight the winner of Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou, which is not booked yet. Or he may jump the line and fight the heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic.
However, for Israel Adesanya, there is no bigger fight than a fight with Jon Jones. He has beaten most of the fighters in the middleweight division. And soon he will be running out of opponents at 185. So is Adesanya ducking the super fight with Jones?
Israel Adesanya has already said that he would fight Jon Jones in 2021. He is aiming to fight Jared Cannonier next. And he also wants a mega showdown with Darren Till in London, which is the biggest fight possible at middleweight division. And so far everything is going according to Adesanya’s plan.
The fans can expect to see Jon Jones and Israel Adesanya exchange fists inside the octagon. But, it’s unlikely that this fight will take place now.
