Ian Garry stays undefeated! He beat Darian Weeks in his second UFC fight to extend his undefeated streak to 9-0 and just proved that ‘the future’ is safe!
Ian Garry started on the back foot early on. It took almost a minute for the fighters to throw the first strike. But Garry’s low calf kick dropped Weeks momentarily. Darian then went for a takedown and engaged Garry in a clinch. However, the Irish fighter managed to reverse the move and land some beautiful kicks of his own. But a hard front kick to the body made Garry lose his footing.
Ian started the second round in an aggressive manner as he started firing jabs early. But Weeks once again overpowered him to engage in a clinch. however, as the minutes went on, the power of and the speed of the 24-year old fighter were on full display. But Darian was crafty enough to get Ian backed up in the corner and almost ended the round with a takedown. But Ian’s takedown defence was accurate.

With two rounds down possibly, Garry had to start the final round on an offensive note. He did exactly that as head kicks and straight punches from Ian went through the defence of Weeks and dropped him. The entire momentum of the fight changed afterwards Garry himself looked for a takedown and finished the fight on a high.

Judges scored the fight 30-27, 29-28 and 29-28 in favour of Ian Garry. In the post-fight interview, he revealed that the performance was not quite what he would have liked it to be. However, Garry added that he is still improving and will get to his best in future.

He also has announced that his wife is pregnant. So he wants to stay active and ended the interview with Jon Anik by saying every fighter in the division will call him the daddy.
“I know I’ve got a lot to learn, my wife is pregnant, expecting at the end of the year. Dana, Mick, Sean, line them up, I’ll knock them out. By the time I’m done with this division, everyone is gonna be calling me daddy.”
With a lot of new fighters at the top of the welterweight division, Ian Garry will look to take big steps forward as the future seems to be bright for the Irish prospect.
