Brandin Podziemski recently discussed an interaction he had with his former Golden State Warriors teammate Klay Thompson. To those who might not be informed regarding the activities that have occurred throughout the offseason, Klay did not sign a new contract with the Warriors and chose to take his talents to the Dallas Mavericks.
After hearing that Thompson had signed a 3-year contract with the Mavericks, Steph Curry and Draymond Green were obviously interviewed to a great extent. While fans might know how they feel and their perspective on the situation, Brandin only joined the Warriors last season and likely views Klay in a different manner. With that being said, let us take a closer look and find out what Podz had to say about Thompson.
Klay Thompson mentored Brandin Podziemski with the Warriors
Last season, the Warriors’ roster was a mixture of young and experienced players. While GSW had Steph Curry or Chris Paul for the point guard position, it was Brandin Podziemski and Klay Thompson who got minutes as the shooting guard on the roster. Since both of them played identical positions, one can only imagine the mentoring that Klay offered Brandin and their relationship over the past season.
Brandin Podziemski was recently interviewed and asked to share his thoughts about Klay Thompson. The young star revealed a few details on the latest interaction between the two of them and also spoke on the impact that Klay had on him.
“Getting a call from him a couple days ago, and him telling me I’ll always have a brother in him for life.”

“It meant a lot and it is something you can’t just go on Google or go on Youtube and search up when you get advice from someone like that… just appreciating his presence and everything he shared with me from a on court and off-court perspective and getting a call from him a couple of days ago, and him telling me I’ll always have a brother in him for life is pretty cool. We can’t wait to go against him and compete against him when we play Dallas.”
While Klay’s exit from the Warriors did not look too pretty from the perspective of fans and the media, it is clear that he still has a good relationship with the members of the roster. Brandin learned a great deal from Klay and could get better next season.
Brandin Podziemski made the All-NBA Rookie team last season
Brandin Podziemski was not given many minutes on the court during his rookie season. He played around 26 minutes per game throughout the regular season. Brandin averaged a decent 9.2 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 3.7 assists.
As a result, he established himself as one of the top rookies from last year’s draft class. Fans are left wondering what he will be able to do with the knowledge that he gained from Klay Thompson and how things will look for the Golden State Warriors next season.
