When it comes to tennis, you simply cannot ignore Rafael Nadal, one of the greatest players in the game. The Spanish player has won 20 grand slams in his career and has the hunger to win even more as he still looks strong at this age. But recently, an injury in the foot has kept him out of the court for months now. The injury is Muller-Weiss Syndrome, a degenerative disease that causes a deformity of one of the bones in the central part of the foot.
He was last seen in the French Open, where he suffered a defeat in the semi-finals against Novak Djokovic. Since then, he has been sidelined. But now the news comes out that the Spanish player is eyeing a return to the court and making himself ready for the upcoming Australian Open.
Rafael Nadal on making a return
After being eliminated from the French Open, the Spaniard has gone through multiple operations so as to recover. It now seems that the player is about to make a return to the court. He recently announced that he will be playing in Abu Dhabi to strengthen his performances ahead of the Australian Open.
“My plan is to play Abu Dhabi in December and then in a tournament before Australia and then the Australian Open. That’s my goal,” said Rafael Nadal in an interview. “We’re working hard to make it happen.” Rafael Nadal last won the tournament in the year 2009 and since then he has made it through to four finals but has been unable to taste the glory.

“But I can say that my goal is to try to come back to Abu Dhabi in December and then, of course, for the start of the new season in January. The injury in my foot still needs to get a little better, but I’m already training almost an hour and a half a day so that is positive. Some days are better than others, but I’m starting to have a lot more positive days than negative ones. So I’m on the right track,” confirmed the Spaniard.
He has confirmed that he has returned to the courts to practice and is working hard to make a comeback into the sport and establish his supremacy once again. It will though be interesting to see when we will be actually able to see him on the big screen.
