Aspinall’s rise has been incredible and he will be back in action this weekend on July 23rd in front of his home crowd as he goes against Curtis Blaydes in the main event of UFC London. The British heavyweight who is currently #6 in the division is on the back of a big first-round submission win over Alexander Volkov.
Therefore he has a big opportunity to make a leap in the rankings this weekend if he manages to extend his perfect record by defeating Blaydes who is #4 in the heavyweight division. As we build up to this fight, Tom Aspinall sat down for a conversation with BT Sport’s Jack Catterall.
In this video, the British heavyweight contender looks back at the first main event win over Alexander Volkov and went on to answer several questions about the fight. While having a conversation, Jack Catterall praised Tom for his different level changes and all-around skills. To which Aspinall added by explaining in detail what sets him apart from the rest of the heavyweight contenders.
“I just blend stuff together well. I’m not the best wrestler, I’m not the best submission guy ever. I’m not the best striker ever but I keep you guessing you know all of them. Yeah nobody knows what’s coming next. That’s the difference between me and the other guys is I can blend them all together and not everybody can.”
Tom Aspinall believes it will be difficult to have a clean performance against Curtis Blaydes
Both Tom Aspinall and Curtis Blaydes will go into this upcoming matchup with great confidence as they have won their previous fights in spectacular fashion. Aspinall who is yet to be defeated in his UFC career so far has delivered a perfect performance every time he has stepped inside the octagon.

Consequently, in an interview with Jack Catterall of BT Sport, The British heavyweight was questioned whether he will be able to replicate a dominant performance against Blaydes like he did against Volkov at the O2.
Tom Aspinall gave an interesting response by saying that it is not possible to reproduce a perfect performance against a top level contender. “I don’t think you can’t fight a top fighter and have it that clean again unless you knock him out in five seconds.”
Aspinall is wary of the threat that Blaydes possesses and moreover, he is a much better fighter than Alexander Volkov in terms of grappling. With that being said, we are in for a treat as we will witness a mouthwatering heavyweight showdown in the main event of UFC London.
