Francis Ngannou went head to head against Ciryl Gane in a highly anticipated heavyweight title fight at UFC 270. In this mouth-watering contest, both Ngannou and Gane engaged in a brutal trading battle. Bon Gamin did what was expected from him in the initial rounds as he kept his distance and landed several strikes.
The French fighter displayed his agility as he landed some brilliant wheel kicks, spinning elbows and various combos. It appeared like Ngannou was tired and the heavyweight champion was in trouble going into the third round.
However, The Predator changed levels and did the unthinkable. In the third round, Gane tried to land a big kick but Ngannou picked up his leg and slammed Gane on the ground. This slam changed the entire fight in his favour as he controlled Ciryl on the ground and landed another takedown later in the round.

Thereafter he landed two big takedowns in the fourth and fifth round respectively. In total Francis controlled Gane for over five minutes which was enough to get him a decision win.
Francis Ngannou becomes the first fighter to takedown Ciryl Gane
Everyone expected Francis Ngannou to win this fight by a Knockout or TKO. However, the Predator showed a new side of his game against Gane. The heavyweight champion exhibited his wrestling skills and landed four takedowns on Ciryl Gane.
What’s more impressive is the fact that he is the only fighter to have taken down the Frenchman in Mixed Martial Arts. It is needless to say that commentators and fans were amazed after seeing Ngannou use his power to land those takedowns.
