In a surprising turn of events, Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury might have to meet inside the ring before September 15 this year after the Bronze Bomber won the arbitration case against Fury that promised him a trilogy bout after his 7th round stoppage loss against the Gypsy King back in February last year. Fury had stated that the clause promised a rematch but it had expired back in October last year after Fury’s team tried to reach out to Wilder’s team on multiple occasions.

Now, in a new turn of events, the judgment has made it clear that both the boxers will have to meet inside the ring before September, bringing the hugely anticipate and a much-awaited showdown between Joshua and Fury in jeopardy. So is the heavyweight championship bout between Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury canceled?
Deontay Wilder proving to be a hurdle for Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury
In the past, the delay in the official confirmation for Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has seen the match-up overcome various obstacles, including paying a good sum of money to both Oleksandr Usyk and Joe Joyce who have been waiting for a title shot.

While promoter Bob Arum had shown no fear for the result of the case, it does seem like the bout will continue. In order to keep the bout in Saudia Arabia for its scheduled date of August 14, Deontay Wilder could reach an outside settlement in order to ensure that the bout takes place, and could be promised a rematch should Fury win against Joshua. However, it remains to be seen what lies ahead for Wilder and a lot would boil down to the result of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury, who themselves have signed a two-fight deal.
Since his loss to Fury, Wilder has made a series of accusations on Fury, claiming him a cheater for adding egg weights to his gloves that left a dent on his skull during the bout. Wilder also parted ways with his long-time trainer Mark Breland, accusing him of stopping the fight early and involved with those who wanted to see him lose.
