The Charlotte Hornets will look to end their 3-game road trip with a win as they visit the Detroit Pistons tonight at Little Caesars Arena. This will be the second of four matchups between these two teams for the season, with the season series currently favoring Detroit 1-0. The Hornets will enter this one on a 2-game losing streak.

The Hornets currently hold a 15-38 record for the season, sitting at the 14th spot in the Eastern Conference standings so far. They will enter this game having lost their last game against the Chicago Bulls with a final score of 114-98. A total of six Bulls players scored in double figures in the win as they improved to 24-27 for the season.

On the other hand, the Pistons have also struggled this season. They currently sit dead last in the Eastern Conference standings with a 13-39 record. Their last game against the Washington Wizards was postponed due to bad weather conditions not allowing them to travel back home for the game. Before that, they lost on the road 111-105 against the Dallas Mavericks, in which Luka Doncic scored 53 points.

LaMelo Ball is listed as available for the Charlotte Hornets vs Detroit Pistons game tonight

LaMelo Ball has been playing well this season. The 21-year-old has played in 26 games this season so far and is averaging an impressive 23 points and 8.2 assists per game. He is listed as available for tonight’s game against the Pistons. For the Hornets, forward Cody Martin (knee) and guard Kelly Oubre Jr. (hand) is listed as out for tonight’s game.

For the Pistons, they will be missing point guard Cade Cunningham, who has now been out of the lineup for over two months after undergoing surgery on his left shin. Apart from him, guard Cory Joseph (back) and forward Marvin Bagley III (hand) are also listed as out for tonight’s game against the Hornets.

Here are the injury reports and expected roster for the Hornets-Pistons game tonight:

Charlotte Hornets injury report

  • Cody Martin (Out)
  • Kelly Oubre Jr. (Out)

Charlotte Hornets expected roster

  • Terry Rozier
  • LaMelo Ball
  • Gordon Hayward
  • P.J. Washington
  • Mason Plumlee

Detroit Pistons injury report

  • Cade Cunningham (Out)
  • Cory Joseph (Out)
  • Marvin Bagley III (Out)

Detroit Pistons expected roster

  • Alec Burks
  • Jaden Ivey
  • Saddiq Bey
  • Bojan Bogdanovic
  • Jalen Duren

The Detroit Pistons are favored to win against the Charlotte Hornets

The last time these two teams faced off against each other was earlier this season in which the Pistons secured a 141-134 OT win. Alec Burks scored a season-high 27 points off the bench for the Pistons in that win. For the Hornets, Kelly Oubre Jr. scored a team-high 28 points in that loss. Tonight, that result is likely to repeat.

This is a matchup between two evenly-matched teams that are clearly in contention for a lottery pick. Although the Hornets have a slightly better record, the Pistons have a better young core talent-wise that has played surprisingly well at times this season. So, expect a tight game but a victory nonetheless for the Pistons.
