The Atlanta Hawks will continue their long 5-game road trip as they visit the Phoenix Suns tonight at the Footprint Center. This will be the first of two annual matchups between these two teams for the season. The Hawks will enter this one on a 2-game losing streak.
The Hawks currently hold a 25-26 record for the season, good for the 8th spot in the Eastern Conference standings so far. They will enter this game having lost their last game against the Portland Trail Blazers with a final score of 129-125. Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard scored a game-high 42 points as he helped his team survive the Hawks.
On the other hand, the Suns have been struggling so far this season. They currently sit at the 7th spot in the Western Conference with a 27-25 record. Their last game was a 114-106 win against the Toronto Raptors, which featured five Suns players scoring in double figures. Former No.1 pick DeAndre Ayton recorded a double-double with 22 points and 13 rebounds.
Trae Young is listed as probable for the Atlanta Hawks vs Phoenix Suns game tonight
Trae Young has been playing well again this season. The 24-year-old has played in 45 games this season so far and is averaging an impressive 27.2 points and 9.9 assists per game. He was out with an ankle injury but is listed as probable for tonight’s game against the Suns.
I’ve been told Phoenix Suns All-Star Devin Booker will return “soon” from a left groin strain he suffered Christmas Day at Denver.
He’s listed OUT tonight vs. Hawks at Footprint Center.

For the Suns, they will be missing star guard Devin Booker, who has now been out of the lineup for over a month with a groin injury. They will also be without guards Cameron Payne (foot) and Landry Shamet (foot), both of whom are listed as out for tonight’s contest. Veteran forward Jae Crowder is also listed as out for tonight as the team explores trade scenarios for him.

The Phoenix Suns are favored to win against the Atlanta Hawks
The last time these two teams faced off against each other was almost a year ago on Feb 3 last year in which the Hawks secured a 124-115 win. Trae Young played with a sore shoulder and scored 43 points for the Hawks in that win. For the Suns, Devin Booker scored a team-high 32 points in that loss. Tonight, however, that result is unlikely to repeat.
The Suns have been comparatively better than the Hawks this season and even without Booker, they still have CP3 and the likes to secure a win against a struggling team like the Hawks. Plus, the Suns will enter this game riding high on their 2-game winning streak whereas the Hawks have lost their last two. So, expect a win for the Suns but an exciting and close game between two almost-evenly matched teams.
