UFC 270 was one of the biggest heavyweight title fights in MMA. Francis Ngannou defended his title against his former teammate, Ciryl Gane. The reigning UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya had nothing but praises for his good friend, Francis Ngannou’s performance in his title defense. Ngannou retained his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 270.
Adesanya right from the announcement of the fight has been very supportive of Ngannou. He even predicted Ngannou’s win and was more than happy with the result. He is seen to be very excited and thrilled on his YouTube Video all throughout the fight as he watched Ngannou snatch Gane’s chances of securing the heavyweight title.
Gane, came with a game plan which seemed to be working in his favor initially. The last style bender reacted to it where he said “I know what he is doing. That’s why it’s frustrating for me ‘cause it’s working.” Gane clearly won the first two rounds only for his chances of winning to be snatched by the heavyweight champ from the third round onwards.
Adesanya along with his group of friends was cheerful and content with Ngannou’s performance. He reacted after the fight saying “Francis got it done. He was down two rounds, rallied up for the last three as a champion does. Now, the world is his oyster.”
Ngannou shocked the MMA world with his wrestling. He is known for his incredible display of power and strength. However, the predator showed utmost patience and displayed a dominating performance throughout the fight. After taking Gane down, he gained control over the fight right from the third round.
On the other hand, Gane tried to showcase his wrestling and grappling as well, to no avail. Ngannou managed to reverse Gane’s attempts as he always put himself in a dominating position on the ground. Ngannou took his wrestling to another level when he escaped from Gane’s attempt to lock his leg via a heel hook.
Francis Ngannou reacts to Dana White skipping the press conference
Francis Ngannou, retained his UFC heavyweight title at UFC 270, in his last contract fight. However, he hasn’t come to terms with the UFC for a new contract. Dana White, who usually hands the belt to the titleholder was not to be seen around the cage when Ngannou defended the belt.
White also happened to miss the post-fight press conference. The UFC president always manages to make himself available for the post-fight conferences to engage with the media. The heavyweight champion reacted and said “I don’t know. You have to ask him,” Ngannou said. He further adds: “No, I did not have anything to do about that. I think that was their decision. I’m about to ask about that, too.”
